GRTC is seeking a qualified professional to perform critical tasks related to data analysis for public transit at the federal, state, and local levels.

WORK SCHEDULE

Typically, 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM, Monday through Friday.

JOB DESCRIPTION

Under the supervision of the Manager of Transit Analytics, the Transit Data Analyst is responsible for assisting in the development, collection, analysis, documentation, and communication of performance measures in cooperation with other departments and offices that support GRTC’s overall vision. This position works cross-departmentally to access, compile, and report on performance measurement data.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Collects and analyzes data to establish data quality and reliability.
  • Formulates data gathering protocols for recording, evaluating, and reporting.
  • Employs data mining techniques to identify patterns that inform decisions and assist in forecasting.
  • Evaluate and analyze GRTC’s route performance data.
  • Performs database management and organization of public transit data.
  • Provides statistical information and report analysis of public transit data.
  • Responds to internal and external data requests, including statistics and metrics for measuring operational efficiency and success.
  • Assist in developing, maintaining, and reporting GRTC’s performance targets to Federal, State, and Local agencies.
  • Develop and maintain monthly GRTC ridership reports.
  • Effectively summarizes quantitative and qualitative analyses into formats appropriate for various audiences.
  • Assist in developing Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
  • Assist in creating data visualization tools.

Education and/or Experience

  • A bachelor’s degree in a quantitative field such as computer science, engineering, mathematics, economics, statistics, or other related field.
  • Knowledge and experience of data mining techniques.
  • Strong statistical and analytical skills are required.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills required.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills are required.
  • Proficient in the use of MS Office products.
  • Ability to manipulate data with spreadsheets and databases such as MS Excel.
