Summary:

The Lead Spray Applicator works under the direction of local Spray Team Coordinator and Farm Supervisor. This role must be comfortable mixing and handling pesticides and have the ability to follow thorough instructions.

Responsibilities:

  • Mix pesticides, herbicides, or fungicides for application to trees or shrubs.
  • Apply pesticides, herbicides or fertilizers to crops.
  • Fill sprayer tanks with water and chemicals, according to formulas.
  • Lift, push, and swing nozzles, hoses, and tubes to direct spray over designated areas.
  • Return completed work orders to the pesticide applications coordinator on time.
  • Wear the required personal protective equipment.
  • Paperwork and Reporting
  • Operate sprayers, tractors, tractor-drawn machinery, and self-propelled machinery to plow, harrow and fertilize soil, or to plant, cultivate, spray and harvest crops.
  • Maintain and clean equipment properly.
  • Complete the training protocol on all equipment before operating.
  • Maintain equipment cleaning records.
  • Timely report of work progress local spray team coordinator and farm supervisor.
  • Load agricultural products into trucks, and drive trucks to market or storage facilities
  • Printing work orders
  • Verifying chemical is at the farm
  • Verify spray equipment is functioning and calibrated
  • Thoroughly reading through work orders and giving direction to other sprayer applicators,
  • Coordinating spray applications in a manner that reduces risk of misapplications
  • Thorough communication with farm supervisor and agronomy team to ensure employee safety, crop safety, food safety, and certification retention.
  • Communication with employees living in employee housing to ensure AEZ requirements are met

  • The ability to wear fit mask and personal protective equipment.
  • Ability to work long and unpredictable hours when needed (often at night).
  • Ability to read and write.
  • Reliable, responsible, and dependable, and fulfilling obligations.
  • Attention to detail when completing tasks.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the needs of the business.
  • Ability to present oneself with professional appearance and behavior in accordance to Employee Handbook Policies.
  • Ability to meet all security requirements and/or pass a drug and alcohol test (security sensitive positions only).

Preferred Skills and Qualifications:

  • 1-3 years related experience and/or training.
  • Bilingual – English/Spanish
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
