CNC Machinist

Overall Purpose:
Plays a vital role in the efficient operation of computer numerical control (CNC) machinery, contributing to the precision manufacturing of industrial components. Expertise in machine setup, operation/programming, maintenance, and quality control will ensure the production of high-quality products that meet industry standards.
Description of Key Responsibilities:
• Set up 3 and 4 axis CNC mills and lathes according to specifications, including loading materials, installing tooling, and calibrating settings.
• Operate CNC machinery to produce accurate and precise components as per engineering drawings and specifications.
• Monitor machine performance, conduct regular inspections, and make adjustments to maintain optimal operation and prevent errors.
• Verify the quality of finished products using precision measurement tools and make necessary adjustments to meet required tolerances. Accurately complete necessary quality control documentation and inspection sheets
• Interpret engineering blueprints and technical drawings to determine machining operations and sequencing.
• Perform routine maintenance on machines to ensure optimal performance
• Contributes to GFS continuous improvement objectives
• Follow safety protocols and maintain a clean and organized work area
• Other duties as assigned
Qualifications/Basic Job Requirements
• High school diploma or equivalent; Technical or vocational training in CNC machining is preferred.
• 4 to 6 yrs experience preferred
• Proven experience as a CNC Operator, with expertise in machine setup, operation, and troubleshooting.
• Proficiency in reading and interpreting engineering blueprints, technical drawings, and geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T) symbols.
• Detail-oriented approach with the ability to maintain accurate records and perform quality checks.
• Ability to perform basic math calculations for measurements and conversions
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
• Excellent organizational and time management skills
• Proficient in written and verbal English communication
• Must be capable of performing duties independently with minimal supervision and working in a close-knit team setting
