Job Description Overview
The Experienced Master’s Level Economic Research Associate - Wage and Hour & Employment Focus, is a job position for a Master’s level economist with experience in statistical and economic analysis in Wage & Hour and Employment litigation. As an Experienced Master’s Level Economic Research Associate, you will provide research support to the firm’s economists.
Your day-to-day work will include activities such as reviewing legal documents and analyzing data, creating and manipulating large data sets, writing computer software code to convert various types of data into a usable format, performing statistical calculations, assisting in the calculation of economic damages in litigation, taking part in calls with the firm’s clients, and assisting in the drafting and writing of legal documents.
As an Experienced Master’s Level Economic Research Associate - Wage and Hour & Employment Focus, you will be required to be proficient with the use of STATA, including construction of large datasets, statistical tabulations of data (including concepts like regression modeling), and intermediate level STATA computer programming. You will need to be able to program, perform, and audit advanced data analysis tabulations in programs like Excel, R, or Python.
As an Experienced Master’s Level Economic Research Associate - Wage and Hour & Employment Focus, you will be closely involved with performing and directing case work with our firm’s researchers and economists. An Experienced Master’s Level Economic Research Associate needs to be able to meet multiple case deadlines, manage team members, and establish milestones to ensure efficient case management.
After the initial training period, you will be expected to fully manage and direct case related research and supervise economic and statistical research staff.
Ideal Candidate
Our ideal candidate would be a graduate with a Masters in Economics and extensive experience with performing economic and statistical analyses in Wage & Hour and Employment litigation.
Our ideal candidate must be able to lead other researchers, while simultaneously being able to perform various economic and statistical analyses efficiently and accurately. Our ideal candidate is someone who is very detail oriented, articulate, and an adept programmer.
Requirements
- M.A. in Economics
- Extensive Experience with economic and statistical analyses in Wage & Hour and Employment litigation
- Experience with using statistical programs; prior STATA experience is a plus
- Aptitude for and understanding of basic computer software programming routines; previous computer programming experience (particularly in Python or R) is a plus
- Must be able to communicate effectively in person and in writing; prior writing experience (or educational background) is a plus
- Must have superior analytical skills, detail oriented
- Ability to summarize and effectively communicate information
- Experience with using and creating Excel computer spreadsheets
Other Requirements
- Work physically in our San Antonio office at least 4 days a week
- Will consider hybrid or remote work for highly experienced and exceptionally qualified candidates
