Summary
Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer (CFO), the Accountant II is responsible for oversight and management of the implementation and recording of all agencies’ financial transactions. The incumbent supports the agency’s financial objectives by monitoring the accounting functions and making recommendations on planning, budgeting, and forecasting. This position oversees accounting functions necessary for the daily, weekly, monthly, and annual fiscal accountability of the agency, according to generally accepted accounting procedures guidelines (GAAP).
Essential Duties
• Provides high level accounting tasks.
• Working with supervisors and cost center managers, manages and oversees the daily execution of the approved master budget.
• Prepares financial trend analyses, budget analyses and budget projections.
• Monitors, oversees the quality, accuracy, and productivity of day-to-day financial accounts under financial, managerial, and cost accounting rules in accordance with generally accepted accounting procedures.
• Manages, posts, and reconciles financial allocations in accordance with agency policy.
• Review and reconcile financial statements and balance sheets for all entities, including the preparation of reconciliation documentation and adjusting entries.
• Completes monthly reconciliation of all corporate bank accounts.
• Completes monthly posting of all financial accruals to include payroll accruals.
• Assists with facilitating year-end audit and positive audit outcome. Prepares all necessary schedules and reports for the annual audit. Also assists agency by conducting internal operational audit functions on a routine basis.
• Ensures compliance with internal procedures as operated by agency to ensure good business controls.
• Promotes HOPE, Inc. as the premier peer support organization to the behavioral health community and prospective funding sources.
• Ensures compliance with and support of Board directives, Agency contracts and established policies and procedures.
• Calculates expense allocations for grant billings as well as month-end and fiscal year-end close.
• Coordinates, delegates, and collects information for annual audit agency wide.
Requirements
• (Required) Peer - Individuals must have first- hand knowledge of a behavioral health condition or substance abuse issue, whether or not they received treatment or medication or identify as a family member of someone in recovery.
• Must be at least 21 years of age per licensing requirements.
• Strong management, and organizational skills
• Effective oral and written communications skills
• Ability to plan and implement organization-wide activities (developing strategies, budgeting, developing policies and procedures, and organizing the functions necessary to accomplish the activities)
• Four (4) years of accounting (or related) education, bachelor’s degree required, Master’s Preferred in a related field, accounting, finance, business/public administration
• Five (5) years’ experience with full accrual bookkeeping under cost allocation accounting, oversight of 3-5 years general ledger accounting experience required.
• Non-profit accounting experience is preferred.
• Advanced QuickBooks’ experience preferred.
• Windows-based accounting software experience required.
