Job Description

Job Summary: Repairs and maintains our fleet of trucks and trailers. Operates and inspects equipment to diagnose defects. Test equipment to ensure operating efficiency.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform the following tasks.

  • Accurately troubleshoot and repair equipment the first time.
  • Have a good understanding of diesel engine, electrical and hydraulic systems.
  • Diagnose and repair complete suspension and steering systems on tractors and trailers.
  • Diagnose and repair complete air brake systems on tractors and trailers.
  • Diagnose and repair lights and complete wiring circuits on tractors and trailers.
  • Diagnose and repair PTO systems.
  • Perform field/roadside repairs as needed.
  • Perform Annual safety inspections and complete all paperwork in accordance with state and Federal DOT regulations.
  • Safely rig or hook components for lifting.
  • Remove, repair, and install significant components in varying configurations of equipment.
  • Maintains tooling in good working order as per OSHA regulations.
  • Assist with repairs on heavy equipment as needed.
  • Assist with facilities and production equipment repairs as needed.
  • Order parts and track all work performed on manual or electronic work orders.
  • Train and mentor-apprentice mechanics.
  • Work closely and communicate with management and other mechanics.
  • Be on time and at work daily.

Qualifications
The requirements listed below represent the qualifications necessary to perform the job.

A. Education and Experience

  • Education: High school or equivalent experience.
  • Experience: 5 years working on commercial trucks and trailers.

B. Certificates, Licenses, Registrations, or Other Requirements

  • Valid driver’s license and must have a clean driving record.
  • Class B CDL minimum.
  • Brake inspection certified.
  • Annual DOT inspection certified.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • Legally eligible to work in the United States.
  • Ability to perform physical requirements of the position with or without reasonable accommodations.
  • Successfully completed pre-employment drug screen, physical, and background check, including previous employment check, criminal history, and motor vehicle record review.

C. Other Knowledge, Skills, or Abilities Desired

  • ASE certificates
  • A/C certificate
