SUMMARY

The Production Technician supports the Manufacturing Engineering Technician team by performing routine technical activities during production builds. The Production Technician is required to quickly respond to equipment stoppages, determining the source of the problem, making corrections, communicating recurring or perceived major issues to the MET. The Production Technician works under direct supervision. This position reports to the Manufacturing Engineering Technical Group Supervisor.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Navigate through multiple levels of Human-Machine-Interfaces in order to perform actions related to resetting faults and clearing machine jams
  • Replace empty Seal Tape and Label dispensers
  • Clean Weld Stations
  • Low level daily preventive maintenance procedures
  • Perform equipment Initial Checks
  • Use of some hand tools will be required

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  • Requires high school diploma or GED.
  • Requires significant mechanical aptitude and the ability to learn industrial computer programs to perform tasks (HMI)
  • Preferred experience in a high-volume applicable industry.

Must be available to work during days, evenings, or weekends, overtime as required.

REASONING ABILITY

Must possess the ability to read, comprehend, and interpret complex procedures. Must be able to observe production equipment and determine where problems are occurring. Must be able to recognize hazardous areas and situations.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to lighting and temperature as required for the office and manufacturing areas. Appropriate safety equipment is required by area. There is potential exposure to hazardous chemicals. A considerable amount of moving from department to department may occur in unfavorable weather conditions. The employee is exposed to the inherent dangers of the explosive materials used in DSSA’s manufacturing processes.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to move throughout the facility, traverse within production areas, communicate with others, and detect or exchange information or ideas. The employee occasionally is required to perform functions which require the manual operation of both general office productivity and test equipment as well as the ability to place, reach, detect, ascend/descend, and position self to navigate within confined working spaces. The employee is frequently required to remain in a stationary position. The employee must occasionally move or transport up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close inspection, identification of objects from a distance, color determination, peripheral detection, depth judgment, and the ability to identify details in varying conditions.
