General Position Summary: The Coordinator of Catholic Campus Ministry for TCU, under the direct supervision of the TCU Chaplain and guidance of the Department of Evangelization & Catechesis of the Diocese of Fort Worth, coordinates opportunities for the spiritual, liturgical, catechetical, and social life of the students at TCU. The Coordinator collaborates with the Servant Leadership Council to develop student activities, student groups, and campus retreats. Through intentional discipleship, the Coordinator helps to form student leaders to be missionary disciples who go out to evangelize on the TCU Campus.

Principal Accountabilities:

  • Coordinate liturgical opportunities for students with TCU Chaplain: Sunday Mass, Daily Mass, Eucharistic Adoration, Confession
  • Coordinate catechetical opportunities for students: weekly formation nights, small group discipleship, special catechetical presentations, guest speakers, vocations, retreat planning, sacramental preparation for confirmation, & RCIA
  • Oversee the administrative and maintenance needs of TCU Newman Center, including budgeting and invoices, inventory of pantry, refrigerator, supply room, etc., as well as regular facility upkeep.
  • Oversee the formation of the Servant Leadership Council by providing intellectual and catechetical formation, additional opportunities for spiritual development, and helping to form them as missionary disciples.
  • Participate in Departmental meetings and gatherings, work closely with the Director of Youth, Young Adult, & Campus Ministry, collaborate with other Campus Ministers in the Diocese.
  • Continue own personal intellectual and spiritual formation through continuing education courses and workshops pertaining to evangelization & catechesis.
  • Performs all other duties and responsibilities as assigned or directed by the supervisor. Perform related duties based on location needs.

Supervision Given and/or Received:

  • Received: direct supervision given to this position from TCU Chaplain; moderate supervision given to this position from Department Director of Evangelization & Catechesis
  • Given: this position provides full supervision of administrative assistant at TCU Newman Center.

  • Diocesan Staff and/or Vendors

Working Conditions and/or Physical Requirements:

  • This position works in a typical office environment but is subject to stress due to the evolving and quickly expanding business needs, tight deadlines, and heavy workloads.
  • Ability to sit and perform computer work for lengthy periods of time.
  • Able to access and maintain centralized departmental files. Involves extending arms and reaching files stored in multiple levels of shelves, climbing up a stepladder to access files.
  • Significant amount of time regularly spent answering and speaking on the telephone providing customer service support and problem solving both internal and external customers.
  • Data entry via computer keyboard requires repetitive and frequent hand and wrist movement.
  • Ability to lift maximum 30 pounds without assistance and up to 50 pounds with assistance.
  • Required to work some nights and weekends.
  • Ability to maintain CONFIDENTIALITY.

Travel Requirements:

  • Travel may be required to Diocesan Parishes and/or the Catholic Center, along with occasional trips to vendor locations for meetings.
  • Travel may be required to vendor for supplies.

Education and Experience Preferred:

  • Master’s degree in Theology, required.
  • 1-4 years’ experience in the areas of young adult and campus ministry preferred.

Knowledge and Skills Preferred:

  • Knowledge of the Catholic Church, Catholic sacraments, Catholic rites, and liturgies Must have excellent interpersonal, communication, leadership and pastoral ability.
  • Knowledge of the application of the Catechumenal model (RCIA) model as the central method of teaching the Catholic faith
  • Knowledge of budgeting principles and practices (including use of spreadsheet software), accounting principles, investment, and financial reporting methodologies
  • Knowledge of cleaning/janitorial equipment; facilities; office practices such as record keeping techniques and file maintenance
  • Knowledge and experience of computer software, Microsoft Office Suite, and social media
  • Must be detail oriented, organized, self-motivated, work well independently and on a team, and have effective time-management techniques.
  • Must be able to effectively manage group dynamics as well as interpersonal relationships to yield positive results.
  • Able to think proactively, critically, and plan effectively.
