CH2M HILL BWXT West Valley, LLC (CHBWV) is the prime contractor selected by the U.S. Department of Energy to manage the Phase 1 – Facility Disposition Project at the West Valley Demonstration Project. The site is a scenic 30-minute drive south of Buffalo, New York. In cooperation with the New York State Energy Research and Development Authority, CHBWV continues to decontaminate and decommission facilities at this site.

JOB SUMMARY/PURPOSE OF POSITION

CHBWV is seeking an IT Operations Administrator IV who is responsible for managing and maintaining Windows server environments, ensuring optimal performance, security, functionality, as well as Microsoft Office 365 applications and services within the organization. Configuring and optimizing O365 components, ensuring security and compliance, troubleshooting issues, and providing user support. The role often involves implementing and managing collaboration tools, such as SharePoint and TEAMS, and ensuring seamless integration with other IT systems.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

A. Education/Experience:

  • BA/BS in Computer Science/Engineering, Information Systems, or other technical degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience directly related to occupation.
  • Minimum of six (6) years experience.

B. Other Requirements:

  • Must have experience in Windows 10/11 O/S, Power BI, Power Automate, Group policy, PowerShell.
  • Strong Microsoft Administration background.
  • Knowledge and understanding of configuring Windows servers to meet organization requirements, considering hardware specifications and software compatibility.
  • Knowledge and understanding of Microsoft O365, Microsoft Axure, Microsoft TEAMS, Microsoft SharePoint, and O365 cloud services.
  • Knowledge and experience with Microsoft Active Directory, Microsoft InTune, Microsoft System Center Configuration Manager, and Windows Server Update Service.

C. Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience performing tracking of server and desktop activity, performing maintenance and upgrades of software, and maintaining server and desktop hardware.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES/SCOPE OF WORK

  • Maintain a safe and healthful work environment by following established safe work practices and procedures; including following all safety rules, use of proper personal protective equipment (PPE), investigating and reporting identified safety concerns or situations.
  • Adhere to standards contained in the Company “Code of Conduct,” Company EEO practices, and DOE directives.
  • Administer and maintain Active Directory services, including user account management, group policies, and security permissions.
  • Monitor server performance, resource utilization, and system logs to identify and address issues promptly, ensuring optimal server functionality.
  • Implement and manage updates, patches, and service packs for Windows servers to enhance security and performance.
  • Establish and execute data backup and recovery strategies to safeguard critical information and ensure business continuity.
  • Implement and enforce security measures, including firewalls, antivirus solutions, and intrusion detection/prevention systems to protect servers from potential threats.
  • Create, modify, and deactivate user accounts, manage access permissions, and ensure compliance with security policies.
  • Maintain comprehensive documentation of network configurations, changes, and procedures.
  • Provide technical support to end-users regarding Windows/O365 related issues, offering guidance and solutions.
  • Oversee virtualized server environments, utilizing technologies such as Hyper-V or VMware to optimize resource utilization and scalability.
  • Ensure data security and provide technical support to users.
  • Collaborate and work closely with other IT teams, such as security and systems administrators, to ensure a cohesive and secure IT environment.
  • Ensure all training and qualifications are up to date, attend educational workshops, and stay updated on network technologies, and participate in professional societies.
  • Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Work independently on complex computer technology activities and recommend changes in systems and procedures.
  • Manage projects and special assignments to deliver results on time and within budget.
  • Interpret and follow a wide variety of guidelines, policies, laws, and established practices to accomplish complex tasks.
  • Develop and execute short-term strategic plans.
  • Research and lead the resolution of moderately complex technical issues.
  • Use judgement to perform, identify, and analyze diverse work control responsibilities involving different and unrelated processes and methods.
  • Isolate and define unknown conditions, resolve critical issues, or develop new theories according to industry principles, theories, and laws.
  • Interface and effectively communicate with personnel inside and outside the organization and senior management to explain proposals or recommendations.
  • Plan and coordinate project activities, influence, and motivate project members to accomplish assigned tasks in a timely manner.
  • Justify, defend, negotiate, or settle computer technology matters involving significant or controversial issues in accordance with CHBWV practices.
