POSITION: Clinical Director

DEPARTMENT: Hospital Operations

REPORTS TO: Regional Operations Leader

DIRECT REPORTS: N/A

FLSA STATUS: Exempt

• Base Pay $130000.00 - $205000.00 / Year

SUMMARY: The Clinical Director acts as the Chief Medical Officer of their assigned hospital and partners with their Hospital Manager counterpart to lead the business as a whole. Our ideal candidate is enthusiastic about mentorship, clinical excellence, and has an entrepreneurial mindset.

KEY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

Advanced General Practice

• Maintains a full clinical caseload and provides exceptional pet care and pet parent experience in line with client’s values and AAHA standards.

• Owns and advances medical standards, quality of care, clinical communication, and clinical professionalism for their site.

• Collaboratively leads daily rounds with hospital manager.

• Conducts regular skills assessments of the workflows and team and identifies ongoing knowledge/skill, protocols, and SOP gaps.

• Maintains composure and empathy when resolving pet parent questions and concerns, collaborating with hospital manager and staff on the best possible resolution.

• Collaborates with hospital manager to build and maintain client communication SOPs and practices regarding estimates, treatment plans, call backs, etc.

• Collaboratively manages DVM/clinical team scheduling and relief assignments with hospital manager to ensure excellent and reliable pet family access to care. Clinical Regulatory Compliance

• Ensures proper clinical cleanliness, compliance and safety standards are adhered to in line with AAHA recommendations. Clinical Mentorship and L&D

• Maintains a professional, welcoming, and accessible presence towards all team members.

• Mentors and collaborates with DVMs and DVM students in assigned hospital:

o Actively assesses clinical skills and fluency for new pet assessments, general wellness checks, on-going condition management, and procedures/surgeries.

o Ensures clinical interventions are occurring timely and proactively; partners with hospital manager to address any operational gaps that may interfere

• Positively leverages negative patient outcomes for learning opportunities for all.

• Collaborates with hospital manager on candidate assessments and hiring decisions.

• Collaborates with hospital manager on team member onboarding and skills training.

• Encourages team members to seek out and adopt new clinical skills.

• Collaborates with hospital manager on clinical team performance management and licensure and CE programs as needed. Internal and External Clinical Community Engagement and Partnerships

• Collaborates with hospital manager and fellow client hospital leadership teams on transfer and coverage solutions.

• Collaborates with hospital manager to provide insights and problem solve local issues and growth initiatives.

• Collaborates with fellow clinical directors and regional support team on internal and external organizational initiatives.

• Partners with marketing and hospital manager on online reputation management as needed.

QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS:

• Graduate of AVMA-accredited Veterinary School.

• Licensed veterinarian with the State of California.

• 3+ years worked as an Associate Veterinarian with general surgery, dentistry and medicine experience.

• Previous experience leading others in a professional setting
