Job Duties

  • Performs routine maintenance tasks including but not limited to plumbing, changing light bulbs and ballasts, electrical repairs, painting, and carpentry to keep buildings, structures, and equipment in good working condition. Adheres to a preventive maintenance program and task schedule.
  • Conducts inspections of facilities and grounds to identify maintenance needs, safety hazards and repair requirements.
  • Responds promptly to maintenance requests and work orders from staff and visitors, resolving issues efficiently and effectively.
  • Assists with the installation, repair and maintenance of HVAC systems and components, including motors, pumps, and other mechanical equipment.
  • Troubleshoots equipment malfunctions and performs necessary repairs to minimize downtime and ensure operational efficiency.
  • Responsible for set-up and break-down of tables and chairs for group meetings and events. Maintains a constant awareness of the site calendar in assigned buildings and areas.
  • Supports the housekeeping function by assisting with janitorial duties including cleaning restrooms, vacuuming, mopping, trash removal from the grounds, and assists the Director of Facilities with managing and supporting the housekeeping team, especially during events.
  • Participates in snow and ice removal during inclement weather.
  • Maintains inventory of maintenance supplies and equipment, replenishing stock as needed and keeping accurate records of usage.
  • Adheres to safety protocols and guidelines while performing maintenance tasks, ensuring a safe working environment for staff and visitors.
  • Collaborates with other departments in the production and support of major events, seasonal festivals, exhibitions, and displays, especially Holiday Lights.
  • On call rotation – required to be available to answer after hours calls and respond to campus in case of emergency.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Maintains a constant awareness of the guest experience and makes every reasonable effort to ensure the safety and comfort of all persons moving through the property.

Requirements:
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; vocational or technical training in skilled trades, maintenance, or a related field preferred
  • Proven experience as a maintenance technician or similar role, preferably in a commercial or institutional setting
  • Moderate knowledge of plumbing, electrical, carpentry, HVAC systems and repairs
  • Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, blueprints and schematics
  • Excellent troubleshooting skills with the ability to diagnose and resolve maintenance issues effectively
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and work independently
  • Valid drivers license and reliable transportation
  • Must be able to pass a back-ground check (7 years)
