Burma Bites (Oakland): Line Cook

Burma Inc. is the management company responsible for Burma Superstar, Burma Love and Burma Club restaurants in the San Francisco Bay Area. Over the years, we’ve grown from a restaurant business to having products and a non-profit, and are looking to continue to expand into more businesses. Position Summary

The line cook prepares and cooks a variety of food products including meats, seafood, poultry, vegetables, sauces and other food products using a variety of equipment and utensils. Ensures the station assigned is well stocked for service and is kept clean and sanitary. The line cook reports to the kitchen manager.

Roles/Responsibilities

• Cook all Burmese or Chinese menu items in accordance with the standards set by the Kitchen Manager
• Prepare cooking ingredients and portions prior to service
• Stocks and maintains sufficient levels of food products at line stations to ensure a smooth service period
• Stores away delivered goods in appropriate location following storing guidelines
• Maintains a clean and sanitary work station area
• Work closely and communicate clearly with other kitchen members
• Attend all scheduled employee meetings

Minimum Qualifications

• Able to acquire a California Food Handler’s License (before or within 30 days of hiring)
• Be able to reach, bend, stoop and frequently lift up to 50 pounds.
• Be able to work in a standing position for long periods of time.
• Must have exceptional hygiene and grooming habits

Preferred Qualifications

• 1+ years service experience in a fast-paced restaurant environment
