Job Description

Title: IR Tech

In this role, your primary responsibilities are to set up and operate the equipment needed for interventional radiotherapy procedures.

Responsibilities:

Monitors and assesses the patients throughout the treatment course.
Reviews patient treatment plan and prescription prior to initial treatment delivery for quality and accuracy.
Reviews patient treatment records prior to each treatment for prescription or treatment procedural changes.
Performs procedural timeouts prior to administration of treatments.
Performs ongoing quality assurance activities; monitoring for completeness of patient and department quality.
Prepares room and equipment such as immobilization, treatment and protection devices, confirms patient identification and positions according to prescription.
Performs morning warm up verifying photon energies, electron energies and linear accelerator functions.
Assist physics department with quality assurance procedures as needed.
Applies principles of ALARA to minimize exposure to patient, self and others.
Reports operation of equipment to the Chief Therapist and Medical Physicist.
