We are currently seeking a Production Specialist/Scheduler o join our team in our Bay Minette, AL location.

Reports To: Plant Manager

FLSA Status: Exempt, Salary

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Production Specialist/ Scheduler s responsible for the execution of the day-to-day tasks relating to production control functions. This includes, but not limited to the input and posting of ERP transactions, creation of job paperwork, issuance of material pick lists, and distribution of shop orders and materials to the floor. This position will work closely with the Plant Manager to assure accuracy of work scope and to ensure the quality of our products & services. This position will support the plant by performing timely in-process and final inspections to promote efficient manufacturing. Inspection results must be communicated and escalated appropriately to ensure actions can be taken. This position will also coordinate with (Engineering, Production Planning, Inventory Management, Procurement, Logistics, and Quality Departments) on any discrepancies or for additional direction needed.

POSITION DUTIES:

  • Obtain basic understanding of Berry Metal Company products, and processes/procedures related to production and manufacturing.
  • Perform all daily transactions within ERP system with a specific focus on accuracy and meeting time sensitive benchmarks.
  • Upload job order routings and bill of materials (BOM’s) for all repair work to drive material requirements
  • Enter and release all production job orders within ERP system including enter routings for new items and incoming repairs in ERP system.
  • Print and assemble job packets in ERP system for all new jobs entered.
  • Run pick lists to pull and stage material for shop floor personnel.
  • Run daily reports for management review (Production Schedules, Dispatch Reports), and update Production key performance indicators (KPI’s).
  • Complete paperwork for material sign-outs and job completions.
  • Complete in-process and final inspections of manufactured items in a timely manner.
  • Complete inspection documentation and report acceptance/rejection to the production team.
  • Document non-conformances and defects identified through inspection and communicate effectively with the production department to resolve identified issues.
  • Verify all incoming product for proper count and overall general condition.
  • Deliver or stage material all received materials to the proper storage area or to workstations as needed.
  • Prepare and package all items for shipping. Operate fork truck. (Unload and load trucks as required.)
  • Upon completion of the job, collect finished Job Packet(s) from the shop floor and insert final Job Cost Report, then forward Job Packet to Plant Manager-Alabama for final approval prior to closing.
  • All other duties assigned by management.

QUALIFICATIONS/EDUCATION /SKILLS/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

  • High school diploma or equivalency required.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in Production Planning, Inventory Management, Procurement, or Logistics in a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong ERP background integrated into manufacturing, including all facets of inventory management and inventory costing flow.
  • Basic understanding of inventory accounting procedures.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Technical drawing and documentation reading and writing skills training.
  • Must be proficient with cell phone, computers, e-mail, excel, word, and windows-based systems.
  • Must be proficient with Micrometers, scales, squares, tape measure, thread gauges, weld gauges, and ID/OD mics.
  • Previous experience with simple dimensional inspections and visual verifications of machined and welded components.
  • Must be detailed and accurate with inspection documentation and quality records.
  • Must be able to follow basic processes and procedures related to inspections of manufactured products.

  • Must be able to walk short and long distances; stand on feet for extended periods of time; work at a desk seated, or bending at a filing cabinet, turning in a chair, use of hands to type, write, file paperwork and hold phone.
  • Must be able to lift and transfer up to 60 lbs.
  • Work in an office inside a plant or on the plant floor with elevated noise levels.
  • Must use vision to type on a computer, read blueprints, instructions, small details, print type or text.
