Job Description

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR:
EBA Engineering, Inc. is seeking a Geotechnical Engineering Department Manager who will deepen our geotechnical expertise, help our company deliver exceptional and client-focused services, and supervise and mentor our talented staff. Reporting directly to the Department's Principal-in-Charge, this individual will be responsible for managing all geotechnical office and field operations, driving growth, and enhancing client relations.

YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES:
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Geotechnical Engineering Department Manager to lead our team of geotechnical engineers and technicians. The successful candidate will oversee all aspects of the Geotechnical Engineering department, including project management, staff supervision, and business development. Responsibilities will include:

•Mentoring and managing a team of geotechnical engineers and technicians.

•Performing geotechnical engineering analyses including soil and rock evaluation, immediate and consolidation settlement, slope stability, ground improvement, and earth retention systems; shallow and deep foundation design; pavement design; and geotechnical instrumentation.

•Preparing geotechnical engineering reports, plans, specifications, memoranda, special provisions, contract documents, cost estimates, and other related deliverables.

•Conducting and reviewing geotechnical tests, including soil classification and compaction, concrete, and hot mix asphalt tests.

•Safely managing and executing field exploration programs and construction oversight activities.

•Providing construction phase support.

•Performing field work as needed.

•Overseeing all aspects of project management, including proposal preparation, project planning, scope development, budgeting, scheduling, work breakdown structures, execution, and safety management.

•Facilitating the timely and successful completion of geotechnical engineering projects, meeting quality and safety standards and client expectations.

•Developing and maintaining client and stakeholder relationships, identifying new project opportunities, and participating in business development activities.

•Collaborating with other departments and disciplines to deliver integrated engineering solutions.

CORE REQUIREMENTS:
•Bachelor's or master's degree in geotechnical engineering, civil engineering, or related field

•Professional Engineer (PE) license in Maryland

•Minimum of 8 years of experience in geotechnical engineering, with 3-5 years in a leadership or managerial role

•Strong technical knowledge of and expertise in geotechnical engineering principles and practices

•Proven track record of successfully collaborating and managing geotechnical engineering projects from inception to completion

•Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills

•Strong business acumen and client relationship management skills

•Ability to lift 50 pounds and traverse over rugged terrain

Desired Qualification:
•Experience with or knowledge of environmental consulting services such as due diligence, industrial hygiene, compliance, engineering design, and/or remediation/mitigation
