Estimator/Project Assistant Commercial Paint & Wall Covering

Dynamic commercial painting & waterproofing company is seeking a full-time motivated and detail-oriented Estimator/Project Assistant to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for reviewing RFIs (Requests for Information), ASIs (Architect's Supplemental Instructions), and addendums to ensure accurate project estimation and smooth project progression. This role includes accurate cost estimate reports for products and services by analyzing a company’s data and requirements. This highly analytical professional’s duties include performing regular risk assessments, monitoring budgets, and collecting quotations from suppliers.

This role will also be responsible for collecting pertinent job information from on-site visits including but not limited to building measurements, building information and overall building conditions, material staging, hoisting equipment setup, etc. utilizing the company’s standardized method.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Interact and collaborate with the team.
• Attend weekly “Bid Calendar” meetings.
• Collect, compose, and submit ITB, RFI, and “Scope of Work”, Specifications & all pertinent client & project information to the designer/consultant/owner for clarifications on project-specific information that is unclear at the time of bid.
• Conduct regular risk assessments with the Estimating Manager.
• Interact & correspond with the Client Manager (Contractor, Developer, etc.).
• Perform blueprint or drawing take-off(s).
• Analyze required documents, blueprints, images and project plans to gain a thorough understanding of the project.
• Review provided plans and specifications for clarity and intent.
• Analyze company data, and monitor budgets and pricing using established production, established rates & software packages.
• Prepare labor and material cost estimates for the products and services.
• Work closely with material and equipment vendors to obtain competitive pricing on purchased goods and rental equipment.
• Collect different quotes from subcontractors, vendors, and suppliers.
• Actively review project variables to find the most competitive and customer centered system for new construction.
• Review estimate and supporting documentation with estimating department manager or senior estimator.
• Prepare project specific proposal outlining such items as anticipated or predetermined staging and hoisting locations as well as general construction procedures.
• Develop and maintain professional relationships with company subcontractors, vendors, and suppliers.
• Accompany assigned business development associate to proposal delivery.
• Once projects are obtained, complete the Project Information Packet (P.I.P.) and conduct handoffs with the assigned Project Manager.
• Attend preconstruction meetings with operations department.
• Assist in pricing change orders and other project-specific tasks to help maximize project profitability.
• Review and assess cost estimates.
• Identify labor, material, costs, and time requirements by researching proposals, blueprints, and any related documents.
• Conduct peer review & quality control with Project Manager.
• Prepare and present detailed cost estimate bids, proposals, and reports to Estimating Manager.
• Assist the different stages of a company project to ensure that expenses follow the forecast plan.
• Assist with complex and detailed reports to management.
• Compile, prepare, and record all data for entry in CRM & database.
• Work well under pressure and deadlines, as well as production requirements.

Education & Training Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Construction, Architecture, Engineering or a relevant field.
• 3 years’ experience as an Estimator or similar role.
• Outstanding mathematics and IT abilities.
• Proficient in relevant software including Bluebeam, CRM, On-Screen Take-off (OST), PlanGrid, Procore, MS Office Project/Suite (Access, Excel, PowerPoint).
• Excellent presentation and communication skills.
• Strong problem-solving abilities.
