POSITION OBJECTIVES: Horizon Christian Fellowship in Indianapolis seeks a Christian educator who desires to work in a growing school. This would be a full-time teaching position beginning in the 2024-25 school year. A successful Teacher at Horizon Christian School educates students in a manner consistent with the Horizon Christian Church and Horizon Christian School mission statement. This includes planning, preparing, and delivering biblically-integrated instruction in each of the defined subject areas and grade levels. Each teacher should have an understanding of the social, emotional, physical, and spiritual developmental milestones of the students they will teach, having the ability to formally and informally discipline students. An effective teacher communicates well with students, parents, colleagues and Administration, exemplifying biblical standards in verbal, written, and nonverbal conduct and communication.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree
- Teaching license required OR ability and willingness to pursue licensure
- Ability to establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with others
- Knowledge and implementation of relevant technology
- Ability to maintain discipline in accordance with the rules and disciplinary systems of the school
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Support Horizon’s vision of Biblical Worldview Shaping combined with academic excellence
- Plan, prepare, and deliver biblically-integrated instruction
- Communicate high expectations for all students
- Effectively plan and prepare lessons and units that align with Horizon’s Biblical Worldview Shaping and Indiana academic standards
- Engage students by incorporating and by maintaining a variety of instructional strategies and technology
- Incorporate evaluation strategies that are appropriate for the students and that are aligned with the goals of the lesson
- Maintain accurate and complete student records
- Review student records in order to develop a foundation of understanding regarding each student's abilities and needs
- Communicate with students and parents concerning their progress in a timely and considerate manner
- Prepare students for state required achievement assessments
- Maintain positive rapport with students; demonstrates patience and appropriate nurturing to assist in the academic, emotional, and spiritual growth of each student
- Performs other duties as assigned

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Must be able to meet physical requirements of the position. Must be able to maintain a stationary position for over 40-50% of the work day. Must be able to traverse classroom and campus.
WORK ENVIRONMENT: Generally classroom setting. Possible change in temperature/humidity; potential for excessive noise, using computer screen. Duties may be occasionally performed on field trips away from school.
