Mental Health Specialist / Mental Health Therapist

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES: To perform the job successfully, an individual should demonstrate the following competencies: Performs psychiatric casework, counseling and treatment services with patients or clients and their families. Evaluates problems presented and in the making of treatment and coordinate plans. May coordinate, participate or conduct group and family therapy sessions. Maintain patient charts in accordance to State, County and quality assurance guidelines. Establishes working relationships with other staff, public and private agencies emphasizing continuity of patient care. May conduct or assist in outreach, education and mental health promotion. Interprets and explains social and emotional factors pertaining to illness to clients’ relatives and community groups. Will provide case management, consultation and linkage with clients in order to provide support and advocacy with the aim of supporting client in overall improvement in mental health. Will participate in on-call duty on a rotating basis. Handles other job responsibilities as needed or as designed. LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Master’s degree plus registered with the California Board of Behavioral Science (BBS) as MFTI or ASW and have obtained an effective Waiver of Licensure from the Santa Clara Dept of Mental Health.
