Summary


The ideal candidate will start by designing, developing and executing software tests to identify software problems and their causes, test system modifications to prepare for implementation and work closely with the Technical Writing and App Support Team to document software and application defects using a bug tracking system and report defects to software or web developers. Create and maintain databases of known defects. May participate in software design reviews to provide input on functional requirements, operational characteristics, product designs, and schedules. Responsible for creating and performing tests, identifying errors, and providing feedback to verify that a final product meets the company’s quality requirements.


Duties and Responsibilities
  • Assists the software development team to recognize the problems early by performing rigorous testing, to guarantee a high-quality product to the end user before going to production (as well as when it is in production).
  • Responsible for applying the principles and best practices of software quality assurance throughout the software development life cycle.
  • Uncover vulnerabilities in the app and determine that its data and resources are protected from intruders.
  • Report defects to software developers by recording software defects within Jira
  • Analyze whether the software follows all business requirements, and functionality offering an easy and secure user interface that facilitates effortless workflows for the end-users.
  • Monitor and analyze the performance of the app using tools for efficient and problem-free operations.
  • Implement automation and manual testing.
  • Defines the objectives of testing and the approach for meeting test objectives.
  • Outline single project specifications and ensure that testing is completed in an efficient and timely manner.
  • Deliver reports and updates for each specific testing project.

Skills and Qualifications
  • A strong background in computer programming is highly preferred.
  • Must evaluate users’ needs and then design software to function properly and meet those needs.
  • Must be able to give clear instructions and explain problems that arise to other team members involved in development. They must also be able to explain to nontechnical users, such as customers, how the software works and answer any questions that arise.
  • Must be innovative in their approaches to designing, identifying problems with, and improving computer software.
  • Ability to concentrate on many parts of an application or system at the same time and must pay attention to detail when looking for potential areas of user error.
  • Must be able to solve problems that arise throughout the design process.

Physical Requirements
  • Stand or Sit: Must be able to remain stationary 50% of the time.
  • Walk: Must be able to move about inside the office to access cabinets, office machinery, etc.
  • Use hands/fingers to handle or feel: Constantly operate a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as a copy machine, computer, and printer.
  • Stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl: Constantly positions self to maintain providing service for machinery, computers, printers, etc.
  • Talk/hear: The ability to communicate information and ideas so others will understand. Must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations.
  • Carry weight, lift: Frequently moves boxes weighing up to 20 pounds across the office for various needs unassisted, 25 pounds heavier with assistance.

Education and/or Experience Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree desired, but not required if able to demonstrate abilities through prior work experience or projects.
  • Preferred to have experience hiring staff and leading a department.
