Director, Research

PRIMARY FUNCTION:
The Director of Research is responsible for leading Pitcairn’s strategy for liquid and semi-liquid investment solutions while supporting the firm’s asset allocation research. Primary responsibilities include identifying investment access points for global equities, global fixed income, real asset strategies and certain alternative investments. Secondary responsibilities include asset allocation guidance and risk management support.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provide due diligence and manager selection for global equities, global fixed income, real assets and liquid alternative investments.
- Manage relationships with new and existing managers, build out the required set of investment solutions and gain broad investment market insights and intelligence.
- Strategize and socialize ideas and recommendations for global economic, strategic, and opportunistic asset allocation frameworks. Develop appropriate investment mixes for specific, investment-oriented client relationships.
- Provide research (trends, flows, market intelligence) for all major asset classes.
- Develop and recommend investment asset mixes for existing clients and prospects.
- Create robust investment deliverables to support the relationship management team and clients.
- Deliver presentations to the family office group, existing clients or prospects as required.
- Serve on the Investment Strategy and Due Diligence Committees, as a resident expert for liquid and semi-liquid public investments.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Chief Investment Officer for the effective and successful operation of the Investment Department.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor’s or advanced degree in business, finance, or economics.
- A minimum of 15years experience with asset allocation, portfolio construction, risk management and/or manager due diligence.
- Experience supporting investment-oriented client interactions.
- Experience managing a small team preferred.
- Strong quantitative skills and high functionality with Excel.
- Knowledge of risk management approaches and tools.
- Excellent computer skills including Microsoft Office and investment performance analytics.
- Strong functional knowledge of Bloomberg, Morningstar Direct, Backstop, SS&C, eVestment or other research database systems.
CERTIFICATIONS:
CFA or CAIA required.
