Best Point is seeking an individual responsible for the support and instruction of skills in the areas of fine motor, prewriting, keyboarding, visual motor perception, classroom management, sensory processing, behavioral regulation, prevocational/vocational participation, Activities of Daily Living (ADLS-feeding, oral motor and personal care, etc) and functional living skills/IADLs (Instrumental ADLs-cooking, cleaning, laundry, meal prep, bill pay, etc.). The Occupational Therapist will provide functional educationally based evaluations, customize activities and provide adaptations for successful participation in the classroom.

Minimum Education, Experience and Other Skill Requirements:

  • Current ODE 5-Year Pupil Services License OR ODE Registration to practice as an Occupational Therapist in Ohio Schools
  • A Master's or Bachelor's degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited college or institution
  • A valid license in Occupational Therapy from the Ohio Occupational Therapy, Physical Therapy and Athletic Trainers Board
  • Recommended- Valid NBCOT National Certification-Occupational Therapist Registered
  • Must have valid driver's license and provide own transportation
  • Experience working with clients with disabilities, which include social, behavioral, communication and learning challenges as well as clients on the Autism Spectrum
  • Knowledge of special education research based best practices
  • Ability to communicate with community agencies, parents, post-secondary education institutions and staff
  • Must possess minimum technical skills including familiarity with Microsoft Windows and ability to use standard Microsoft Office applications

Work Environment:

Exposed to a combination of office, school and mental health treatment environments. Exposed to clients with behavior problems. May be exposed to shouting and clients who may be verbally and physically aggressive. May be exposed to blood or vomit and bodily fluids.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to:

Regularly required to sit, stand, walk, bend and lift up to 50 pounds. Must be capable of sustained exertion and be able to participate in the physical restraint techniques and exercises required to ensure safety of clients at all times.
