Job Description: As an Electrical Engineer / Programmer, you will play a pivotal role in our projects, responsible for designing technical electrical drawings, PLC programming, and Bill of Materials. Your duties include the design and layout of custom equipment, selecting components, and ensuring project requirements align with customer specifications. Effective communication of project concepts, layouts, and component designs through comprehensive drawing packages and submittal book data is a key responsibility.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and draw wiring and layout diagrams
  • Select electrical components
  • Design HVAC Sequence of Operations
  • Calculate MCA and MOCP
  • Create visual guidelines for construction purposes
  • Draft technical details
  • Specify electrical connections
  • Develop electrical back-pan detailed layouts
  • Utilize Computer-Aided Design and Drafting systems (AUTO-CAD electrical)
  • Create, store, and manage drawings electronically
  • Prepare variations of designs
  • Explain concepts to customers, fabrication, and installation teams
  • Prepare engineering drawings detailing plans and specifications
  • Physically observe each project in fabrication, providing input during progress
  • Redline/As-built documentation

Preferred Background: Applicants should possess experience in:

  • All facets of the HVAC and/or Manufacturing industry
  • Designing electrical power circuits
  • Designing electrical control circuits (AC and DC)
  • Knowledge of the design and construction practices related to manufactured and engineered products such as fans, compressors, coils, heaters, controls, ductwork, and piping.

Education and Experience:

  • Proficiency in software packages: AutoDesk AUTOCAD, AutoDesk Inventor, Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel
  • Knowledge in ASHRAE and NEC
  • Familiarity with hazardous locations and their requirements
  • Knowledge in IEC / ATEX is a plus
  • BSME or BSEE required
  • Registered Engineer in the State of Texas
  • Knowledge of Electrical and Mechanical codes for hazardous areas and NFPA 496 systems
  • Minimum 8 - 10 years’ experience in HVAC industry; PLC Programming is a must
