Position Overview

Amethod Public Schools (AMPS) is mission and values driven organization. The Instructional Dean serves as the educational leader of the staff and students at the school site. In collaboration with the Site Director, he or she is responsible for the execution of the instructional program development and leadership of the staff. The Instructional Dean will oversee the instructional program to provide a quality educational environment that meets the need of all students. The Instructional Dean in conjunction with the School Leader will serve as a member of the administrative team dedicated to cultivating excellence throughout the school and community. They will have the leadership responsibility of coaching and managing the school’s teachers.


Requirements:

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Student Assessment and Monitoring

  • Systematically assesses and monitors student progress using objective and verifiable information.
  • Emphasizes student academic achievement as the primary outcome for students.
  • Supports and documents progress with students, specifically the most vulnerable students in the MTSS (Tiered practice)
  • Helps maintain policies and practices for grading, reporting, and promoting.
  • Assists in training and supporting teachers and leaders in using student information and assessment systems (e.g., Illuminate Education)
  • Conducts data analysis alongside Site Director and assists in preparation and delivery of professional development related to data analysis and assessments.

Assessment Coordination

  • Assists in coordination of all statewide and school wide assessments such as: CAASP/ELPAC/SBAC/CELDT/CAHSEE/ Benchmark Assessments.
  • Coordinates development and execution of grade level performance tasks for SBAC/CAASSP.
  • Assists in analyzing students’ work with individuals or groups of teachers, and then brainstorms next steps for adjusting instruction.
  • Assists staff in the use of various types of programs such as online software, curriculum resources, etc.

Staff Instructional Leadership and Support

  • Takes initiative to assist Site Director in staff classroom observations and instructional coaching and demonstrates aptitude in the process.
  • Uses a tiered system to structure and organize teaching staff to identify and support struggling teachers through modeling, coaching, and mentoring.
  • Assists Site Director with recruiting, screening, hiring, training, and evaluation of the school personnel.
  • Assists Site Director in developing and maintaining positive staff morale and stays on mission with leader goals and priorities through the year.
  • Assists Site Director in providing orientation for newly assigned staff members and assists in their professional development.

Professional Development

  • Assists in developing Professional Development opportunities in house and through external providers;
  • Provide leadership in the development, direction and innovation of educational programs designed to meet the needs of students groups, including English Language Learners and Special Education.
  • Helps teachers set, and reach yearly objectives for themselves and students.
  • Provides opportunities for teachers to share and demonstrate successful practices.

Ancillary Job Functions

  • Assists with special school events which may require flexible hours
  • Attend meetings and trainings as assigned

Required Qualifications

  • BA Required; Masters Degree Preferred
  • Administrative Credential Preferred

Required Skills & Abilities:

  • Must be able to coach teachers of all levels,
  • Excellent communication,
  • Deep understanding of the Google platform
  • Microsoft office (excel, and word) i
  • Excellent organization, time management and follow-up skills;
  • Spanish Fluency Preferred

Regularly required to talk and listen.

Must be able to have repetitive wrist/hand/finger movement to work on computer and/or related office equipment.

Occasionally may be required to lift boxes of no more than 30 lbs.; carry, grasp, push, reach, or stoop/kneel.
