Assistant Prosecuting Attorney-Child Support

The Assistant Prosecuting Attorney - Child Support position assists in the efforts to collect child support and obtain paternity, administrative, and out-of-state orders. Works under the general supervision of the Director of Family Support and Prosecutor, according to an established work routine.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Prepare, draft, and file pleadings on criminal, civil, and federal child support matters on behalf of the Prosecutor and Division
• Appear in Court on criminal, civil, and federal child support matters on behalf of the Prosecutor and Division
• Operate computer linked to State Department of Social Services Child Support Division
• Receive inquiries from the public, employers, and state contacts
• Provide appropriate response to these individuals
• Review all cases for accuracy and completeness
• Assist with child support calculations.
• Contribute to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed
• Provide backup to related positions and perform other related duties as assigned and reasonably qualified to perform

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

• Working knowledge of computers and electronic data processing; working knowledge of modern office practices and procedures.
• Skill in operation of listed tools and equipment; phone; personal computer; copy machine; fax machine; typewriter; 10-key calculator
• Ability to effectively meet and deal with the public
• Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing
• Ability to handle stressful situations
• Ability to supervise personnel

Minimum Qualifications:

• Juris Doctorate Degree from an accredited institution and valid license to practice law in the State of Missouri.
