Full-time/Part-time: Full-time, 10-month

Classification: Exempt

Reports to: Vice Principal of Curriculum and Instruction

Pay Range: $72,000-$115,000 (depending on experience)

We are a collaborative, creative, and progressive department that strives for excellence in Mathematics education. At Presentation, math is about more than just numbers. It's about teaching young women the skills to accomplish tasks by setting and reaching goals.


The Presentation High School Math Department provides a challenging and varied math curriculum that allows every student to take four years of college preparatory courses. We emphasize connecting the curriculum to real-world applications and seek to develop our students' growth mindset.


We offer an extensive breadth of courses from Pre-Algebra to Multivariable Calculus.


Position Summary


Presentation High School in San Jose, California, is seeking an instructor to join the Math Department, teaching high-school-level math courses to students in grades 9-12.


Duties and Specific Responsibilities

  • Model for students the Catholic mission and values of Presentation High School
  • Demonstrate subject matter competency and the ability to communicate that to high school students.
  • Devise a system of classroom order and discipline that contributes to the learning of all students.
  • Create meaningful connections with students through culturally responsive teaching.
  • Utilize provided lesson plans to deliver dynamic and engaging lessons and assignments using Universal Design for Learning and other engaging pedagogical strategies.
  • Model a spirit of innovation, creativity, and intellectual curiosity.
  • Be available to students who need assistance.
  • Exercise professionalism at all times with students, parents, and colleagues.
  • Participate in professional development activities of the subject area, pedagogy, and technology.


Requirements:

Education & Experience

  • B.A. degree and single-subject teaching credential or Masters Degree in the subject area.
  • Relevant teaching experience, preferably five or more years at the high school level.

  • Knowledge of the latest pedagogy for effective classroom instruction and student learning.
  • Excellent organization, verbal, and written skills, and outstanding interpersonal skills.

  • Available and willing to work on occasional co-curricular events, including overnight field trips.
