  • The Electrical Controls Technologist has the full responsibility for the implementation of manufacturing equipment projects and assignments. The Automation Controls Specialist in a manufacturing environment can readily apply advanced techniques in the analysis and implementation of projects and assignments.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Responsible for full understanding of electrical controls plant wide
  • Assisting in implementation of manufacturing equipment reliability programs IE: Preventative and predictive maintenance and repair of equipment, Life cycle management.
  • Assistance in generating and/or reviewing all technical electrical system analysis reports and or studies.
  • Assistance in interpretation, coordination and execution of projects and assignments, including equipment design, installation, commissioning and start-up, preparation of specifications, etc.
  • Designs and develops all aspects of electrical control systems, equipment, and machinery.
  • Assists in the installation and technical support of PLC based hardware and software.
  • Advisor to cross-functional teams to address manufacturing equipment initiatives.
  • Responsible for providing technical support in assembling and presenting manufacturing equipment concepts and solutions.
  • Ensure electrical designs and components are aligned to production operations
  • Deputizes for local Manager, Capital Projects & Reliability as required.
  • Coordinates with internal and external groups to support implementation of manufacturing equipment projects and assignments.
  • Responsible for ensuring that the applicable engineering aspects of the quality and safety requirements are implemented in accordance with Company and statutory requirements.
  • Assists in Implementation of industry best practices for High and Low Voltage distribution
  • Thorough knowledge and ability to reference all aspects of NFPA 70.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE and QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience required.
  • 2-5 years as an Electrical technician in a manufacturing environment.
  • Project Management experience preferred.
  • Mechanical engineering aptitude necessary.
  • Ability to Interpret and Program PLC software using RS LOGIX 5000 and 500
  • High technical ability and analytical skills required.
  • Ability to operate within a multi-tasking dynamic team environment.
  • Aptitude to learning new design tools to broaden experience.
  • Ability to effectively present information and communicate at all levels.
  • Willingness to acquire all skills to assume role as Plant controls engineer

  • Plant/Shop/Field Services:
    • Regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts; fumes or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals; and risk of electrical shock.
    • Regularly exposed to hot and humid conditions (outside weather conditions);, precarious places; and vibration.
    • Occasionally exposed to the risk of radiation or electrical shock.
    • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to very loud.
  • Office:
  1. Normally work in an office and manufacturing floor environment ; however, occasionally may work at an alternate branch location or at home if needed by the business.
