Job Title: Infant Developmental Specialist

Job Overview: The Infant Developmental Specialist will work closely with infants, toddlers, and their families to promote healthy development, address developmental delays or disabilities, and provide support to enhance overall well-being. The specialist will assess developmental needs, develop individualized intervention plans, and collaborate with families and other professionals to implement strategies that foster optimal growth and development.

Responsibilities:

  1. Conduct developmental screenings and assessments to identify strengths, areas of concern, and developmental delays in infants and young children. (familiarity with DAYC a plus)
  2. Develop and implement individualized intervention plans tailored to the unique needs of each child, focusing on promoting development in areas such as cognitive, motor, communication, social-emotional, and adaptive skills.
  3. Provide direct services, including therapy sessions, play-based interventions, and parent education, to support infant and toddler development and enhance caregiver-child interactions.
  4. Collaborate with families, caregivers, and other professionals involved in the child's care to establish goals, monitor progress, and ensure continuity of services across settings.
  5. Offer guidance and support to families on strategies for fostering development and addressing challenges related to their child's growth and development.
  6. Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of assessments, intervention plans, progress notes, and other documentation as required by regulatory standards and program policies.
  7. Stay current on research, best practices, and evidence-based interventions in the field of infant and early childhood development, and incorporate this knowledge into practice.
  8. Participate in interdisciplinary team meetings, case conferences, and professional development activities to collaborate with colleagues and enhance skills and knowledge.
Qualifications:

  1. Bachelor's or Master's degree in a related field such as Early Childhood Education, Child Development, Psychology, or Special Education.
  2. Previous experience working with infants, toddlers, and young children in early intervention, early childhood education, or related settings. (1 year minimum)
  3. Knowledge of infant and early childhood development, developmental milestones, and evidence-based practices for promoting optimal development.
  4. Strong assessment and intervention skills, including the ability to conduct developmental screenings, administer standardized assessments, and design individualized intervention plans.
  5. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to establish rapport with children, families, and colleagues from diverse backgrounds. (bilingual a plus)
  6. Understanding of family-centered practices and the ability to collaborate effectively with families and caregivers as partners in the intervention process.
  7. Commitment to cultural competence, equity, and inclusion in working with diverse families and communities.
  8. Certification or licensure as required by state regulations (Teacher's permit a must)
