Title: Pre-K Instructional Aide        

Job Summary:

The Pre-K Instructional Aide at Midland Christian School plays a vital role in assisting the lead teacher in providing a nurturing and educational environment for young learners. This position involves working closely with children aged 4-5 years old, supporting their cognitive, social, emotional, and spiritual development in alignment with Christian principles.

Education:

High School Diploma or GED Required

Required Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Previous experience working with young children, prefereably in a preschool or early childhood education setting.
  • Knowledge of child development principles and age-appropriate teaching practices.

Skills:

  • Commitment to upholding Christian values and integrating faith into daily activities and interactions.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues, parents, and students.
  • Patience, empathy, and a genuine love for working with children.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism in all interactions.

Transportation:

Reliable transportation.                                                                                       

Physical and Mental Effort:

  • Physically, the aide must be mobile and able to move around the classroom and school environment, engaging with children, setting up activities, and supervising play. There may be lifting and carrying involved, as well as outdoor supervision during playtime.
  • Mentally, the aide must be able to multitask effectively, problem-solve, and provide emotional support to children. Communication skills are crucial for interacting with children, colleagues, and parents. Flexibility is also important, as the aide must adapt to changing needs and dynamics in the classroom.

Essential Functions

Essential functions of this position include the following.  Employees in this position perform some or all of the following functions.  Other duties may be assigned.

  • Assist Lead Teacher: Support the lead teacher in implementing daily lesson plans and activities that align with the Pre-K curriculum and Christian values.
  • Supervision and Care: Ensure the safety and well-being of children at all times, both indoors and outdoors, by maintaining proper supervision and adhering to school policies and procedures.
  • Classroom Management: Assist in maintaining a positive and structured classroom environment conducive to learning, including managing transitions, behavior, and routines.
  • Curriculum Support: Help prepare and organize instructional materials, resources, and equipment for lessons and activities. Assist in facilitating hands-on learning experiences that promote creativity, exploration, and discovery.
  • Individualized Support: Provide one-on-one or small group support to children who may need additional assistance with activities or concepts, adapting teaching strategies to meet diverse learning needs.
  • Spiritual Integration: Integrate Christian values and teachings into daily activities and interactions with students, fostering their spiritual growth and understanding.
  • Communication: Maintain open and effective communication with the lead teacher, parents, and other staff members regarding students’ progress, concerns, and achievements.
  • Assessment and Documentation: Assist in observing, assessing, and documenting children’s development and progress, including maintaining accurate records and portfolios.
  • Other duties may be assigned as needed.
