ASSISTANT/ASSOCIATE PROFESSOR OF CHEMISTRY

JOB TITLE: Professor of Biochemistry, Rank commensurate with Experience

DEPARTMENT: Natural and Behavioral Sciences

REPORTS TO: Chair, Department of Science and Mathematics

POSITION SUMMARY: The Department of Science and Mathematics invites applications for a tenure-track eligible professor position. This Science department faculty will teach a standard faculty load of twenty-four hours per academic year.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

● PhD (preferred) or Masters degree in Chemistry, or a closely related field. Able to teach General Chemistry, Organic Chemistry, and Biochemistry.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE PREFERRED:

● Five years of successful teaching experience at the University level or

● Five or more years in research or related experience in a professional career

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• For specific rank indicators: See Indicators for Promotion and Evaluation document.
• Participate with faculty to develop learning activities for students.
• Provide input to the Chair, and/or Dean for planning regarding program effectiveness.
• Stay up to date with current developments in the field by reviewing journals, abstracts, and literature
• Participate in RU and departmental committee work.
• Attend designated University events, such as chapel, convocation, graduation, and other community-building activities
• Report accurate grades, attendance, and feedback to students.
• Serve as academic advisers for students.
• Hold a minimum of five (5) office hours per week.
• Promote an inclusive Rochester through demonstration of our Diversity Statement. Participate in developmental activities to increase understanding and awareness of issues related to diversity, equity, and inclusion both individually and as related to my field of work, profession, or discipline.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
• Promote and maintain a safe Chemistry Laboratory
• Oversee order of chemistry lab supplies and waste disposal
