JOB DESCRIPTION

JOB TITLE: Distribution Center (DC) Coordinator

LOCATION: Charlotte, NC

Working in our Charlotte, NC DC and reporting to the DC Fulfillment Supervisor, this position is responsible for performing as a Distribution Coordinator. The function of the Distribution Coordinator will spend a majority of their time is spent working with customer service and the entire warehouse team to ensure the highest quality of customer satisfaction.

The position is tactical, requiring hands-on work on the DC floor. The role calls for solid communication and training skills with an emphasis on team building, quality output, excellence in customer service, and continuous improvement in order fulfillment operations. The DC Coordinator will assist Supervisors with workflow management, employee training, and daily stand-up meetings.

The Distribution Coordinator must have developed expert skills in order picking, parcel packing, and workstation layout through a combination of job-related training and considerable on the job experience in a Lead role. The Distribution Coordinator, as a key employee and top performer, will motivate others and drive team performance without having Supervisory authority. The role requires frequent interaction with site leadership and periodic communication with our corporate office.

KEY RESULT AREAS:

  • Complete shipping information and delivery data input for domestic and export shipments into the company's system.
  • Heavy phone work assisting customer service in all customer related issues
  • Coordinate with carriers and freight forwarders to schedule pick-up of goods.
  • Prepares packing list and bill of lading.
  • Assist in resolving any discrepancies.
  • Performs variety of clerical duties such as arranging weigh tickets in order, files, mail correspondence as instructed.
  • Data entry on computer to generate shipping labels and other documents.
  • Weighing and loading of material onto truck in accordance with laws and safety regulations.
  • Complete Bills of Lading.
  • Prepare Pack slip and Bill of lading for all shipments
  • Perform all general warehouse duties including UPS/FEDEX shipping process, Cycle Counts, Housekeeping, receiving.
  • Meet all timelines in regards to orders and sample requests in hand.
  • Read and understand all customer orders, ability to notice any discrepancies.
  • Record lot number tracking information accurately in computer system.
  • Coordinate daily workload to facilitate timely delivery to customers.
  • Inspect outgoing conveyances and notify management of any issues.
  • Properly complete all shipping and receiving documents and logs.
  • Coordinate and load all outbound traffic to include: Truckload, LTL, UPS/FedEx or any other method required to facilitate customer orders.
  • Responsible for aiding in own self-development by being available and receptive to all training made available by the company.
  • Plans daily activities within the guidelines of company policy, job description, and Supervisor’s instruction in such a way as to maximize personal output.
  • Responsible for keeping own intermediate work area in a neat and orderly condition to ensure safety of self and co-workers. Will report unsafe conditions and/or practices to the appropriate supervisor and Human Resources. Will immediately correct any unsafe conditions as the best of own ability.

  • Sponsors and participates in continuous improvement initiatives and fosters a Lean culture through 5S, formal problem solving/Kaizen events, and standard work to eliminate non-compliance and defects.
  • Supports Quality Management System and corporate training & development program with proper document control and employee training. Ensures standard work (SOP’s and work instructions) is current and effective. Collaborates with CFS management to address complaints and CAPA’s.
  • Supports Charlotte’s safety (behavior-based) program. Attends monthly meetings and participates in hazard mapping events and assists Safety Champion on safety and environmental-related issues.
  • May assist with the completion of administrative tasks for areas of responsibility, including order planning, Daily Management (SQDC, process charting), and DC KPI input.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE:

  • High School Diploma required.

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:

The type of experience required to effectively perform the essential functions and responsibilities of this position are:

  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in distribution operations, with at least 1 year in a Lead role
  • Must be experience with MS Office
  • Continuous Improvement (Lean) experience within a distribution environment is a plus

TRAVEL REQUIRED:

  • Up to 5% travel, in support of corporate initiatives
