Job Description
Salary: $85,000-105,000 Salary + Incentives

*Must be located in Denver, CO or surrounding metro. 

 


Project Engineers are responsible for supporting the profitable execution of large design-build retrofit projects that are centered on MEP/controls/envelope building systems, including Energy Savings Performance Contracts (ESPC).  Through assisting the Project Manager, Project Engineers ensure that assigned projects are done accurately, on-time, within budget and in accordance with the scope of the contract.  Ensures work performed follows state, local and Federal legal requirements and operates on the job with the highest of ethics.  Adheres, and ensures Iconergy staff and subcontractors adhere, to all safety and environmental standards.  Responsible for following consistent and repeatable project engineering procedures and processes.  Oversees various aspects of workflow, staffing, budget allocation, site coordination and scheduling of the assigned project to ensure customer satisfaction and project financial goals.


A day in the life of the successful candidate:

  • Supports the development of project schedules and executes according to plan for assigned projects.
  • Reviews and interprets contract Terms and Conditions.
  • Supports the analysis of financial reporting systems and project schedules to proactively address potential problems. Effectively communicates project progress and issues to management as required.
  • Manages risks and establishes project recovery plans when required. Resolves disputes with minimal need for escalation.
  • Supports subcontract procurements and scope of work development.
  • Ensures compliance with local, state and federal codes, guidelines, best practices, and policies (wage requirements, tax exemptions, etc.)
  • Ensures project document controls comply with contract requirements and Iconergy standards. Includes, but is not limited to:
    • Job setup within project management software
    • File structure setup & management
    • Submittal, RFI, ASI, PO and Change Order processing
    • Design Drawings management & dissemination
  • Supports the oversight of project construction for compliance with specifications, local codes and installation techniques. Supports site setup and general condition requirements, including but not limited to:
    • Waste Diversion coordination & tracking
    • Site setup coordination (dumpsters, staging, storage, etc)
    • Material deliveries
    • Coordination of subs on site
  • Ensures site safety requirements are being documented and completed per Iconergy standards.
  • Develops and maintains viable long-term relationships with customers, consultants, and subcontractors. Attends and notates job progress meetings as required.  Ensures subcontractors understand expectations of the project.
  • Facilitates escalation of issues that they are not able to resolve on their own.
  • Coordinates customer-training requirements & closeout documentation, as required by specific project type.
  • The initial projects will be in Colorado or surrounding states. Future projects may be in other areas of the region or even outside the


The successful candidate’s background will look something like this:

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction, Civil, Mechanical, Electrical Engineering, Construction Management or Architecture.
  • Three (3) or more years of direct project engineer or management experience in the Building Construction Industry.
  • Project Engineer or Project Management experience with projects related to Mechanical Retrofits, Lighting Retrofits, Building Envelope, Electrical upgrades, and HVAC controls including BAS management systems (DDC controls).
  • Experience in dealing with a large and diverse number of simultaneous challenges, requiring knowledge of many different disciplines.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
  • Demonstrated verbal and written communication skills. Must have the ability to communicate technical material to a non-technical audience.
  • Proficient in Project Management software and financial accounting systems.
  • Strong Personal Computer working capabilities in MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint), Adobe Writer, Visio, Bluebeam PDF editor or similar and basic Windows environment.
  • US Citizen and Background check by Government HSPD-12 for badging and access is required.
