Cayman ABA is a new and growing pediatric ABA therapy clinic in the Cayman Islands, providing ABA interventions to children with autism spectrum disorders and other related developmental delays. We are looking for experienced and competent Registered Behavior Technicians to join our team.  We are looking for someone who is eager to be part of a new and impassioned clinic, dedicated to serving children with autism spectrum disorders and other related developmental delays.   


Job Description:


The Behavior Technician is a Registered Behavior Technician (RBT), BCaBA or BCBA, who provides intensive behavioral intervention services to individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorder and other developmental delays.  The RBT will work to teach language, communication skills, academic skills, and life skills to individuals with autism, using the methods of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA).  Teaching will be conducted in homes, schools, and in the community.  Training will be provided, as well as regular supervision by a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA).  Technicians will be responsible for implementing programs, collecting data on progress, discussing session performance with parents, demonstrating teaching methods in clinic meetings, and carrying out all program and teaching modifications as directed by the Clinical Supervisor.


Reports To: Board Certified Behavior Analyst 


Clinical Duties

  • Receives and welcomes clients (at the clinic, in the home, or in the community) according to Cayman ABA professional standards
  • Provides a safe and positive and therapeutic environment for the client at all times
  • Uses effective pacing practices and runs the  session according to Cayman ABA’s best practices
  • Recognizes and responds to functions of behavior in procedurally matched ways
  • Assists in conducting quarterly clinic meetings
  • Assists in conducting monthly parent showcase sessions
  • Adheres to the BACB’s RBT Task List (2nd Edition) for assessment, measurement, implementation of skill acquisition lessons, data collection and behavior reduction methods.
  • Maintains client dignity and implements safe-handling practices.


Documentation, Reporting & Ethics

  • Effectively communicates with supervisor(s) in an ongoing manner. 
  • Reports other variables that might affect the client in a timely manner. 
  • Generates objective session notes for service verification by describing what occurred during the sessions, in accordance with applicable legal, regulatory, and workplace requirements. 
  • Complies with applicable legal, regulatory, and workplace data collection, storage, transportation, and documentation requirements. 
  • Describes the BACB’s RBT supervision requirements and the role of RBTs in the service-delivery system.  
  • Communicates with stakeholders (e.g., family, caregivers, other professionals) as authorized. 
  • Maintains professional boundaries (e.g., avoid dual relationships, conflicts of interest, social media contacts).


Administrative Duties

  • Maintains a clean and organized workspace and cleans up thoroughly during and after therapy sessions
  • Converts all sessions in Central Reach in a timely manner 
  • Completes administrative duties during “office hours” (non-client facing work hours), as assigned and described.  Including, but not limited to:
    • Administrative duties
    • Clinic cleanup and maintenance
    • Stimuli development
    • Data review/analysis
    • Session preparation


Performance & Development

  • Is responsible for registering, tracking and meeting supervision requirements as designated by BACB standards, and logging it on the Supervision Log. Communicates with Clinical Supervisor if supervision is not being met.
    • Mentors Junior Behavior Technicians as assigned, and makes sure they are logging supervision accurately.
  • Actively seeks clinical direction from supervisor(s) in a timely manner. 
  • Responds appropriately to feedback and maintains or improves performance accordingly. 
  • Completes all required training and ongoing trainings as assigned
  • Provides and accepts/incorporates feedback across settings and people
  • Evaluates self-performance, and initiates goal setting and timelines for reaching goals with direct supervisor
  • Self-monitors areas of strength and weakness and seeks support as necessary
  • Completes required CEUs and select topics based on the needs of the clients
  • Manages use of time effectively by scheduling individual responsibilities on calendar
  • Responds to communications in a timely manner
  • Accesses the mentorship of other BCBAs/experts when addressing issues outside individual area of expertise
  • Completes training requirements as assigned


Responsibilities as a Senior Technician:

  • Provide training and guidance to Junior Behavior Technicians, on running sessions at Cayman ABA
  • Assists in performing functional behavioral assessment,  reinforcer assessment and new client assessment
  • Assists in designing treatment lessons for the client and implementation of programs
  • Senior Behavior Technician is directly involved in the training (program implementation) of Junior Behavior Technicians or RBTs and assists BCBAs in onboarding new clinical hires to become independent and competent with Cayman ABA policies/procedures.
  • Assists BCBAs with exemplar mastery and lesson progress progression in electronic systems
  • Must be confident and fully equipped in assisting Junior Behavior Technicians (if needed and necessary) in dealing with clients with challenging behaviors if the Supervisor is not around.
  • Maintain calmness and ability to handle stress associated with behavioral issues/ incidents while following through BIP and maintaining neutral demeanor during crisis (during overlap with Junior RBT or RBT in training).
  • Provides mentorship to Junior Behavior Technicians that promotes camaraderie and learning.
  • Is responsible for tracking supervision for self and monitoring supervision log for Junior Behavior Technicians


Additional Duties:

  • Actively communicates Cayman ABA’s outreach efforts to community
  • Participates in professional meetings, trainings, or conferences deemed to be beneficial program development
  • Adheres to the mission, vision and values of Cayman ABA
  • Sanitize activity bins, toys, and supplies within the clinic (weekly)


Eligibility:

  • Must be at least 18 years of age and have a minimum of an Associates or Bachelor's degree in Psychology, Education, Natural Sciences or a related field
  • Current Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) Credential from the BACB, in good standing
  • Minimum of two years experience working as a Registered Behavior Technician with children

Requirements

  • Minimum contract of 30 months (2.5 years)
  • Must pass HIV test and criminal background check
  • Must obtain reliable transportation within the first month of relocation 


Physical demands:

Under normal circumstances the employee will need to have the physical capacity to continuously use his/her hands for simple and firm grasping and fine manipulation. The employee may be required to do the following:

  • Physically able to respond quickly from any position, walk quickly or jog short distances, stand on feet for a minimum of 15 minutes
  • Lift and carry 25-100 lbs.
  • Push / Pull up to 150 lbs.
  • Squat / Kneel / Stoop
  • Bend
  • Twist upper, and lower back

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time position; the working hours of the Employee, in terms of a start and finish time, may not be prescribed due to the nature of the Employee’s duties under this agreement.  The Employee will be expected to work forty-five (45) hours per week.
