Job Description

DENTAL ASSISTANT

Bradenton, FL

Temp-to-hire

$19-$22 DOE


The Dental Assistant I, under direct supervision, performs routine dental assistant duties, such as preparing patient and treatment room for the Dentist and Hygienist, assisting chairside, breaking down and cleaning rooms after completion of patient treatment, sterilizing equipment per guidelines, The DA-II captures x-rays (if radiology-certified) and assists the Dentist and Hygienist chairside in treating patients, following all clinical and operational standard operating procedures (SOPs) of the dental program.

REQUIREMENTS & PREFERENCES:

Dental Assistant Expanded Function Certificate from an institution accredited by the Council on Dental Accreditation (CODA) of the American Dental Association preferred.

OR

Certificate in Expanded Function & Radiology preferred.

OR

Certificate in Dental Assisting required.

CPR Certification required.

At least 1 year experience as a Dental Assistant preferred.

Microsoft Office Products – Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint proficiency preferred.

JOB ESSENTIAL DUTIES (not all-inclusive):

  • Ensures compliance with applicable local, state, and federal regulations, safety protocols, TJC, and other accreditation standards and laws.
  • Operates according to the dental program’s SOPs.
  • Sterilizes equipment and instruments, following all infection prevention and control guidelines of the dental program
  • Performs four-handed dentistry.
  • Prepares operatory for patient services.
  • Performs simple maintenance of equipment.
  • Prepares tray set-ups for all procedures.
  • Assists the Lead DA with the management and restocking of supplies.
  • Takes accurate radiographs (if radiology certified) as prescribed by the dentist.
  • Gives post-operative and oral hygiene instructions to patients.
  • Takes and records patient’s vital signs.
  • May perform expanded duties – if expanded function certified
  • May perform various laboratory procedures, such as mixing alginate and pouring models and fabricating temporary crowns.
  • Works with the Lead DA to maintain inventory and order supplies as needed.
  • Ensures patient comfort and safety during all services.
  • May perform the remediable tasks, under direct supervision, as outlined in Florida statutes, section 466.024 and Board of Dentistry Rule 21G – 16.005.
  • Works with the Lead DA to maintain required logs and proper documentation.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
