Job Description

Job Title: TAS Database Administrator

Department: Division of Social Services

Job Summary:The TAS Database Administrator is a critical role at the Division of Social Services, tasked with the comprehensive management and oversight of the Tribal Assistance Systems (TAS) client software/database. This position involves significant collaboration with government officials, departmental managers, and end-users to ensure optimal system performance, compliance with federal mandates, and ongoing enhancements in alignment with tribal best practices. Given the sensitivity of the role due to handling of client confidential information, the TAS Database Administrator must adhere to the highest standards of data protection and privacy.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Database and Application Management:
    • Maintain the cohesion and integrity of the TAS database and application servers.
    • Install, upgrade, and manage database applications and ensure seamless integration with existing systems.
    • Develop and enforce database standards across all departments within NNDSS to ensure uniformity and compliance.
    • Perform database performance tuning and optimization.
    • Manage and monitor database access, ensuring secure and efficient usage.
    • Develop processes for optimizing TAS database usage, incorporating best practices from other tribes.
  • Compliance and Reporting:
    • Maintain a comprehensive knowledge of federal reporting requirements and ensure all departments are trained on filing relevant reports using TAS data.
    • Monitor, advise, audit, and submit Federal Data Reports, maintaining strict adherence to data standards.
    • Collaborate closely with government officials and auditors to ensure the availability of accurate statistical and demographic data.
  • Technical Support and Project Management:
    • Troubleshoot and diagnose user and database errors.
    • Project manage data changes required by departments, liaising with Eaglesun programmers for implementation.
    • Create, manage, and automate TAS database reports, visualizations, and dashboards in collaboration with department managers.
    • Provide on-call and on-site support for TAS as needed.
    • Maintain detailed documentation of TAS systems tailored to the needs of NNDSS.
  • Training and Development:
    • Develop and maintain training materials in partnership with training staff.
    • Provide ongoing training and advice to end-users and department trainers, including Level Two technical assistance.
    • Educate all NNDSS personnel on TAS functionalities, imaging standards, and data reporting protocols.
    • Develop ad-hoc reports as requested by NNDSS executive staff.
  • Security and Maintenance:
    • Continuously analyze and monitor user access and security settings within the TAS system.
    • Maintain configuration settings in the TAS database for all departments to ensure functionality and compliance.
    • Enforce strict confidentiality protocols to protect sensitive client information.

Certification:

  • Obtain and maintain the official Tribal Assistance Systems Certification.
  • Develop and provide TAS coursework as part of staff development initiatives.

Qualifications:

  • Proven experience as a database administrator, particularly with TAS or similar systems.
  • Strong understanding of database management, performance tuning, security management, and compliance reporting.
  • Excellent project management skills and ability to coordinate with multiple stakeholders.
  • Strong communication and training skills, capable of educating a diverse user base.
  • Deep commitment to maintaining confidentiality and securing sensitive information.
  • Knowledge of federal data reporting requirements in a social services context is highly advantageous.
