GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF POSITION
The MRI Technologist plays a crucial role in maintaining smooth patient flow within the department while delivering exceptional patient care and high-quality imaging services. Operating imaging equipment according to physician orders and established protocols, the technologist ensures accurate and timely diagnostic imaging for patients.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Competently scan each patient as requested by physician and/or radiologist.
- Provide quality patient care.
- Assist patients as needed.
- Administer contrast injections.
- Transfer images to reading radiology group.
- Daily and weekly QA on machines.
- Report any imaging equipment issues.
- Keep room and equipment clean and neat.
- Position the patient accordingly.
- Address patient concerns and ensure they are comfortable and calm during scans.
- Perform any other related duties as required or assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty mentioned satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- High School Diploma
- Associate’s degree or Higher: Completion of an accredited program in Radiologic Technology or a related field is required.
- 0 to 6 months related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
REQUIRED CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
- ARRT
- State Licensure
- MRI Registry Eligible
- BLS
PREFERRED CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
- MRR Registered by ARRT
SOFTWARE SKILLS REQUIRED
- Proficiency in MRI imaging software for acquiring and processing images.
- Familiarity with Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems for managing patient data.
- Basic understanding of Picture Archiving and Communication Systems (PACS) for accessing medical images.
- Knowledge of medical billing software for accurate documentation.
- Competence in communication and collaboration tools for effective teamwork.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite for documentation and reporting.
- Understanding of safety and compliance software for regulatory adherence.
