About the Role

As an integral team member at AESC US LLC, you'll have a pivotal role in driving our mission forward—to pioneer comprehensive battery solutions for a sustainable tomorrow. Reporting to the Project Performance Center Manager, you’ll oversee and analyze project requirements, material, and labor to facilitate budgeting endeavors, ensuring streamlined project planning and execution. Your contributions within the Global Industrialization Develop team will directly influence our strategic objectives and bolster our standing as a premier global force in battery technology.

What You Will Do
  • Estimate planning: Construct the estimate plan including the breakdown of work into estimating packages, delegating estimating responsibility both internally and externally (to third-party estimating firms), and tracking progress against the plan.
  • Basis of Estimate: Develop and manage a comprehensive Basis of Estimate (BOE) document throughout the estimate lifecycle noting the scope, execution strategy, level of precision, key assumptions, exclusions, risks, and other critical information.
  • Material Take Offs: Perform periodic material takeoffs from 2D drawings or 3D models to validate design and contractor proposed quantities.
  • Estimating: Develop cost estimates from high-level rough-order-of-magnitude (ROM) to definitive, bottoms-up estimates. Conduct estimate meetings and work closely with key stakeholders including engineering, procurement, scheduling, and construction management to align the estimate with the execution plan and enhance the overall accuracy of the estimate. Ensure complete scope coverage of the estimate, identify the potential for design growth, and ensure allowances are appropriately used. Convert estimates into key unit rates and validate with industry benchmarks and internal historical rates.
  • Change Management: Estimate cost impact related to changes in design and construction strategy during project execution that vary from the Baseline. Work closely with project team to forecast project cost on a timely manner.
  • Funding requests: Assist team in preparing cost information related to Project funding requests to Management
  • Risk Assessment: Work with key stakeholders to identify risk, and lead the contingency development process
  • Quality Reviews: Perform quality reviews over work prepared and submitted by others to ensure completeness and accuracy
  • Process Development: Support the continued development of estimating systems, processes, and templates. Develop estimating systems, metrics, and benchmarks that allow for the standardization of costs used by various stakeholders for planning and budgetary purposes in early design stages.
  • Performance Tracking: Track and summarize estimate performance with other project controls functions and the finance teams.
  • Studies: Lead ad-hoc cost studies that enable rapid decision-making based on payback, rate of return, etc.
What You Need
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
  • 5-7 years of estimating experience
    • Electrical, HVAC, Plumbing, Fire Protection, Building Automation, LV System background
    • Central Utility Building, Life Safety Systems, Tank Farms, Waste Water Treatment
  • Experience with GMP budgeting
  • Background: large facility background, industrial, construction
  • Understanding of US construction material pricing and labor rates and productivity factors
  • Knowledge of SMACNA, NECA, MCAA, etc. type standards is desirable
  • Strong excel proficiency
  • Ability to work on multiple project scopes at once
  • Strong ability to read drawings and designs
  • Culture fit: flexible, go getter, adaptable to change
  • Understands and follows all standards of IATF16949 and VDA 6.3 quality standards. (Training and awareness will be provided for those who are not familiar with these standards)
  • Understands and follows all standards of ISO14001 environmental standards. (Training and awareness will be provided for those who are not familiar with these standards)

Work Environment

The work environment is primarily an automated manufacturing plant with a concrete floor and is characterized by some temperature extremes, moderate noise, and forklift traffic.
