Public Relations Specialist (SIOP-22-1148-W):

Bowhead seeks a Public Relations Specialists to join our team in providing program management support in a broad range of services to the Shipyard Infrastructure Optimization Program (SIOP) and assisting our US Navy clients in the execution of the SIOP mission. SIOP is chartered with modernizing the infrastructure at four public shipyards in Pearl Harbor HI, Puget Sound WA, Kittery ME, and Portsmouth VA.

The Public Relations Specialist will develop, coordinate, implement and/or administer public relations and/or government affairs programs within the SIOP community. Reviews material intended for public release to ensure that it represents the best interests of the program and is consistent with established public relations objectives and policies. Plans, prepares, and disseminates information (e.g. press releases). Provides public affairs, legislative affairs, policy documentation, and other strategic communications knowledge and support to internal organizations as well as external organizations and/or customers. Researches, writes, and edits articles, speeches, reports, statistical backgrounds, and talking points representing the program. Researches legislative history and analyzes legislative actions as they relate to assigned programs.

Job duties include but are not limited to:
Create and edit articles, news releases, fact sheets, talking points and other written content to stimulate internal and external interest in command accomplishments and enhance understanding of the command, its workforce and mission
Participate in regular meetings (in-person and virtual) to stay abreast of organizational accomplishments and to keep the organization informed of current and upcoming public relations activities
Respond to requests from federal public affairs officers for information in response to external media queries
Identify appropriate media outlets and venues for written content to assist the federal public affairs officer in placing stories for wider dissemination
Help leadership communicate effectively with the their employees and the general public
Ensure audiovisual records of events are preserved for internal documentation purposes
Draft speeches, talking points and presentations for the organization's leadership
Develop and implement strategic communications objectives and goals in conjunction with organizational directives as requested, and provide regular updates to leadership on goal accomplishments
