Job Description
A Salt Lake County residential home builder is seeking a qualified Purchasing Agent to join our team. This position plays an important role in the company’s Purchasing functions and will assist in bidding and awarding contracts with suppliers and subcontractors. You will assist in maintaining accurate contracts, insurance certificates, and budgets with suppliers and subcontractors.
Purchasing Agent should have experience in construction, excellent attention to detail, organizational abilities, time management skills, communication skills, and must represent our company in a professional manner.
Responsibilities
• Identify new vendors in the market
• Negotiate bids with subcontractors and suppliers
• Assist in resolving issues and conflicts related to subcontractor and supplier activities
• Maintain all Subcontractor Agreements, Scopes of Work, and Insurance Certificates
• Prepare custom change orders and options
• Prepare plan take-offs, evaluate bids, and create construction budgets
• Prepare direct costs analysis and variances for review
• Analyze plans for cost analysis recommendations and research cost of proposed design ideas
• Interact with architect/engineers regarding plan changes impacting take-offs
• Value engineer plans, products, and processes
• Assist with creating and working through specifications and Scopes of Work
• Perform all other duties as required
Qualifications
• Must have experience in residential or commercial construction
• Ability to read and understand construction plans
• Must be efficient, detail oriented, and a quick learner
• Ability to multitask
• Proficient in using Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, Word) and Web-Based Management Software
• College degree or equal construction experience preferred
