Job Summary:

We are seeking an Associate Developer/Accessibility Specialist with subject matter expertise and experience in WCAG 2.0 testing and solving and training developers to improve consumer-facing web-based applications. The Associate Developer/Accessibility Specialist will be responsible for analyzing and providing solutions for accessibility problems and will work directly with the customer, designers, and other developers to resolve issues. Ideal candidates will exercise independent judgment with minimal direction from supervisor.

Job Duties and Responsibilities

  • Analyze existing web applications for Accessibility issues and provide developers and designers with workable solutions.
  • Analyze accessibility reports and provide feedback for prioritized solutions.
  • Identify source of accessibility issues in code base and provide workable necessary changes.
  • Modify code base and markup as necessary to remediate accessibility issues.
  • Analyze future designs and provide feedback to Product Owners and others to ensure Developers receive accessible designs and specs on new features
  • Work with diverse team of product owners, UX designers, and developers in a fast paced and complex environment, with quick iterative cycles

Qualifications
  • Demonstrable Subject Matter Expertise in WCAG 2.0, Section 508, ADA, other accessibility laws and standards
  • Significant experience using Accessibility testing tools AND screen readers such as JAWS, WAVE, WAT
  • Knowledge of and ability to discuss WAI-ARIA (Accessible Rich Internet Applications) techniques and solutions
  • Knowledge of Angular 12+ framework and control design.
  • Knowledge of and ability to discuss HTML5, CSS, Typescript, and Angular solutions
  • Experience within Agile, Scrum software development methodologies
  • Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills
  • Passion for making websites and applications accessible to all users

Preferred Experience
  • DHS Trust or CPACC Certification preferred
  • Past Experience as a Developer and/or Accessibility Consultant preferred
  • Understanding of C#, .NET, and Visual Studio / VS Code.
  • Knowledge of automated 508-testing tools (AATT, SortSite) a plus
  • Experience with MS ADO preferred


Location: Remote
