Position Overview

Our company is searching for an experienced, reliable and detail-oriented Flat Painter. We are looking for someone who takes pride in staying on schedule, working efficiently, and exemplifying cleanliness, craftsmanship and organization. The candidate will be responsible for masking, wall prep, flat painting and varnishing. They are expected to make timely, organized deliveries, run necessary errands, pick-up materials and purchases, and load/unload the company cargo van. They will become familiar with the Production workflow and support the Production department by performing tasks such as creating giant transfers and stencils, mixing colors for projects, staging materials and applying faux finishes. Finally, the ideal candidate should be capable of basic sign painting, and should have a strong interest in fine art.

Duties include, but are not limited to:

Wall Prep, Flat Painting and Finishing Work

Expert rolling, brushing and spraying

Prepare sites for painting; immaculate taping, masking, setting up ladders and equipment

Prep walls, including repairs: power washing, patching, sanding, priming, flat painting and touch ups

Apply varnishes and clear coats

Transport materials to job sites, pick up materials after project completion

Securely and safely tie-down cargo materials

Set up work spaces - including private residences, businesses, and exterior projects in a clean and organized fashion

Assist with hanging & installing large canvases (like wallpaper)

Comfortable with heights, setting up and working on scaffolding, lifts, ladders and planks

Maintain clean work sites and keep materials organized

Always be improving, and asking oneself how to perform duties faster, better and at greater quality

Willingness to learn painting techniques, faux finishing techniques, use plasters, create sample boards

Help with sign painting and color blocking with brushes and mini rollers (will be taught)

Bonus Experience:

Experience with power tools and some woodworking and handiwork

Skim coating

Studio Work

Working with the Production team to execute projects beautifully, and on time

Knowledge of paint products, including primers, latex, varnishes, etc.

Trace large drawings using a projector (will be taught)

Use a plotter machine to cut stencils (will be taught)

Photography/videography, or willingness to learn.

Hang stencils and giant paper transfers on walls

Gather materials required for each project, and restock items correctly

Load, deliver and pickup materials from the studio and various job sites

Communicate well with other team members, and ensure sites have what they need

Ability to follow instructions, take on a variety of different tasks, and keep the workday organized and efficient

Duties performed at studios (Lake Balboa & DTLA), and different job sites in LA and surrounding counties, and possible travel.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee must be able to remain in a stationary position for extended periods of time

Ability to operate a computer and other productivity machinery, such a copy machine, printer, perforation tools, projectors, etc.

Constantly communicates with vendors, clients, staff members, therefore must be able to communicate, converse with and exchange information

Must be able to detect, determine, perceive, identify, recognize and assess from long distances

Must be able to lift 50 lbs

Ability to uphold the stress of driving and traveling
