DevSecOps Engineer

Growing Engineering company in the Baltimore area looking to bring on a DevSecOps Engineer. Position does allow for extensive telecommute but viable candidates need to be open to going to their Baltimore office from time to time. Position requires viable candidates to at least be a Green Card Holder. US Citizens preferred.

Required Skills/Qualifications:

The candidate will work as part of a cross-functional agile team, along with software engineers, systems administrators, and systems engineers to orchestrate the deployment of databases and automate recurring operational tasks. The candidate will be a bridge between operational DBA's and database developers to ensure that database changes are treated the same way as application code and database maintenance in production environment is fully automated.

Hands-on experience with representative technologies and tools

• Database administration with SQL server at scale
• Database development on production applications
• Containers:
  • Docker/docker-compose
  • Kubernetes (Preferred)
• Configuration Management
  • Ansible
  • Terraform (Preferred)
• Knowledge of modern software development practices such as:
  • Git
  • CI/CD
  • Merge/Pull based code review
  • GitOps
• Workflow development and automation tooling (Slack workflows/bots, webhooks, API programming)
• Solid foundation of Linux and Windows configurations
• Scripting with server-side languages such as Python or Shell
• Experience working with IT processes such as Change Management and Incidence Management

Service development

• Must be able to develop, maintain and automate application layer services
• Experience with agile and waterfall development procedures

Analytical and troubleshooting skills

• Strong analytical skills to solve complex problems, interpret data and metrics
• Ability to resolve complex system integration and deployment issues between software and IT infrastructure.
• Visual analytics

Testing

• Practical experience with rapid prototyping and test automation
• Experience in setting up proof-of-concept deployments
• Experience documenting test results, identifying KPI metrics, ensuring test coverage, and communicating issues effectively
• Experience writing test plans and strategies for unit, integration, and validation tests

Collaboration and communication skills

• Ability to collaborate and team up across the Institute
• Experience with user adoption of new technologies
• Effectively communicate both verbally and written with project teams, management and clients concerning status of work
• Moderate and participate in peer reviews
• Build and maintain vendor relationships

Education

Bachelor degree in technical field such as systems engineering or computer science from an accredited University

Desired Experience/ Skills:

• Ability to modify the repository schema of an existing application to support new data items
• Develop data mining and data ingest processes
• Administer, maintain, and implement policies and procedures for ensuring the security and integrity of the database and application
• Project management with Jira
• Documentation using Confluence
• Visualization platforms such as Tableau
• Public cloud providers (AWS preferred)
• Knowledge of AI packages for AI-powered data integration
