SoonerVision, the in-house video production arm of OU Athletics, is seeking candidates that are passionate in the field of broadcast production, particularly as a Producer / Director, to serve in the role as an Associate Director of Broadcast Content. Located in Norman, Oklahoma, this position will focus primarily on the tasks as a producer & director for Oklahoma's live game broadcasts and studio-based programming for ESPN's family of networks. The position structured within the Broadcast group amongst the SoonerVision department, which also produces in-arena and creative digital content for Oklahoma Athletics. 

As a member of the broadcast group, this position will have the opportunity serve in all areas of live broadcast production but will focus primarily on "Producer" and "Director" roles. The Associate Director of Broadcast Content will assist in the execution of live game broadcasts for all sports at Oklahoma, including volleyball, soccer, basketball, wrestling, gymnastics, baseball and softball. Furthermore, the department produces weekly studio-based programming on OU Athletics that air on ESPN .

While the majority of productions will be carried on ESPN , there will also be productions on ESPN's linear outlets as well as eventual opportunities on SEC Network. Working alongside the engineering department and the Coordinating Producer, teamwork is vital to the success of the position. The candidate may be called upon to work, train or mentor any position on the broadcast crew, including graphics, replay, camera, audio and engineering. The Associate Director, along with others in the broadcast department, will be responsible for assisting the engineering department with setup & responsibilities related to SoonerVision productions. This includes camera setup, signal testing, loading elements in the switcher, panel setups, audio and video routing, and other engineering needs. The ideal candidate will have a passion for training and mentoring students, as development of personnel is vital to the sustainability of the department.

  • Live event support for on-site technical help
  • Facility / venue connectivity management

Required Education:  Bachelor's Degree in Communications, Broadcasting, Marketing, Journalism or related field; AND

  • 24 months of experience in creative media, sports production or related field.

Equivalency/Substitution:  Will accept 48 months of related experience in lieu of the Bachelor's degree for a total of 72 months of related experience

Skills:

  • Ability to work in a demanding, fast-paced environment that often requires irregular hours, nights, weekends and travel
  • Excellent organizational, problem-solving and communications skills
  • Proven ability to build relationships, collaborate and work effectively with diverse constituents
  • Detail-oriented for accuracy of information, data, grammar and brand standards

Advertised Physical Requirements:

  • Be able to sit and look at a computer for prolonged periods and engage in repetitive motion.
  • Must be able to lift heavy objects over 50 pounds (video equpiment is constantly moved). 
  • Frequent exposure to pressure caused by deadlines and busy periods.
  • Requires work during non-business hours.

Certifications:

  • Valid Oklahoma Driver's License in order to drive University vehicles or ability to obtain within 30 days of hire date.

  • Control Room Crew Experience
    • Graphics (Ross XPression)
    • Replay (EVS)
    • Audio (Calrec)
  • Experience working in collegiate sports
  • Experience working on broadcast TV trucks
  • Fluency in Windows & Mac workflows
