The Department of Health Policy and Management is seeking a Senior Research Program Coordinator to join the Center for Health Disparities Solutions. This role reports directly to the William C. and Nancy F. Richardson Professor in Health Policy and Director of the center, Professor Darrell Gaskin. Whilst this is a full-time hybrid posts the department recognizes that flexibility in work arrangements can improve productivity, moral, and work-life balance, as such, flexible working patterns will be considered.

 

The Senior Research Program Coordinator serves an important role within the day to day running of the centers research team. Overseeing day to day activities of large complex and/or multiple studies, assisting in study design and contributing to standard operating procedures.

 

This role includes a considerable degree of independent action and frequent interaction with internal and external constituencies. This position requires consummate skills in diplomacy, discretion and confidentiality. The successful candidate will have demonstrated experience working in a fast-paced, executive environment and will be a core member whose contributions to a team-based and cross-trained environment will advance the goals of Johns Hopkins University and the Department of Health Policy and Management.

 

Specific Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Develop standard operating procedures and data collection forms from protocol(s). Oversee day-to-day activities of support staff on study.
  • Oversee the acquisition and management of large administrative data.  Prepare material for data use agreements.
  • Maintain and conduct regular quality control checks and balances of research study gift cards for disbursement to study participants.
  • Execute, track, and monitor the disbursement of honorariums and awards or other budgeted funds.
  • Organize, coordinate and participate in regularly scheduled meetings with study investigators and teams.
  • Serve as liaison with research sponsors and collaborators.
  • Assist in the preparation of existing grant reports and adhere to reporting deadlines.
  • Manage and order inventory for research study recruitment meetings as well as office supplies.
  • Manage data bases, shared files, and email listservs.
  • Manage Center event planning including selecting venues, caterers and AV technicians.
  • Create and prepare job descriptions and requisitions for RA and staff hiring.
  • Post and announce Center RA positions to various JHSPH Depts, Schools and Hopkins organizations.
  • Complete required federal work study (FWS) paperwork for students and the Financial Aid Dept.
  • Review resumes for candidate selections, set up interviews and make recommendations for RA and staff hiring.
  • Onboarding visiting faculty, students, research staff and summer interns
  • Manage student research assistants.
  • Manage pilot grant program.
  • Manage workshops, seminar and other center activities.
  • Assist in the preparation of materials for IRB.
  • Participate in developing study budget.
  • Perform self-audits and audits other sites.
  • Recommend changes to protocol operations based on results and goals.

 

Minimum Qualifications (Mandatory):

  • Bachelor's Degree in related discipline.
  • Three years related experience. 
  • Additional education may substitute for required experience, to the extent permitted by the JHU equivalency formula.*

 

JHU Equivalency Formula: 18 graduate degree credits (semester hours) may substitute for one year of experience. For jobs where equivalency is permitted, up to two years of non-related college course work may be applied towards the total minimum education/experience required for the respective job.

The pre-employment physical for positions in clinical areas, laboratories, working with research subjects, or involving community contact requires documentation of immune status against Rubella (German measles), Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Varicella (chickenpox), Hepatitis B and documentation of having received the Tdap (Tetanus, diphtheria, pertussis) vaccination. This may include documentation of having two (2) MMR vaccines; two (2) Varicella vaccines; or antibody status to these diseases from laboratory testing. Blood tests for immunities to these diseases are ordinarily included in the pre-employment physical exam except for those employees who provide results of blood tests or immunization documentation from their own health care providers. Any vaccinations required for these diseases will be given at no cost in our Occupational Health office.
