Job Title: Extended Care Director
Location: St. Vincent de Paul School
Wage Range: $22-$25/hr.
THE POSITION:
The Extended Care Director is hired by the school Principal to supervise and to operate the school's Extended Care Program. The Director is responsible for program planning and implementation, program licensing maintenance, program-to-parent communication, record keeping, billing, and the supervision of one or more extended care aides.
All members of the Extended Care staff are expected to abide by the policies and procedures of the local school and of the Archdiocese of Denver. The staff cooperates with the principal in providing an environment that promotes the ministry of Catholic education.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
The duties of the Extended Care Director will include but are not limited to:
- Provides age appropriate instructional/recreational activities for children enrolled in the Extended Care program.
- Supervises and maintains proper student behavior in accordance with school policies to ensure the safety and welfare of all students.
- Follows established procedures to ensure the safety and welfare of students.
- Maintains confidentiality and discretion regarding school and classroom matters.
- Communicates with parents regarding all Extended Care matters.
- Recruits, interviews, and recommends the hiring of aides.
- Supervise Extended Care aides.
- Maintains records for the Extended Day program.
- Reviews, evaluates, and maintains the program for state compliance.
- Other duties as assigned by the school principal.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- Requires a minimum of a bachelor's degree, preferably in early childhood education.
- Compliance with Safe Environment requirements.
COMPETENCIES AND QUALIFICATIONS:
- Be a fully initiated Catholic in the communion of the Catholic Church and intentionally living out the five precepts of the Church (CCC 2041-2043).
- Refrain from promotion or approval of, or the living out of, any conduct or lifestyle that would reflect discredit or disgrace on, or cause scandal in relationship to, the Archdiocese of Denver, or considered to be in contradiction with Catholic doctrine or morals.
- Effective supervisory skills.
- Effective listening and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work with students in a less structured but organized environment.
- Must work cooperatively with school staff and administration.
- Sound judgment and decision-making skills.
- Knowledge of and willingness to implement safety and emergency procedures.
- Completion of First Aide and CPR training every three years.
- Completion of relevant state training.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Requires lifting up to 40 pounds and carrying up to 40 pounds.
- Ability to execute appropriate safety and emergency procedures, including leading evacuations and providing basic first aid.
