Have you always dreamed of working in the ICU? Are you a current RN with at least 1 year of acute care experience? The ICU Plus program is for you! Los Robles Hospital has a unique opportunity with the StaRN Plus. Accelerate your nursing career by joining our Specialty Training Apprenticeship for Registered Nurses (StaRN) program! We invite registered nurses to apply for a unique opportunity to have didactic and clinical training by HealthTrust (a part of the HCA family).

This cohort will start in 2022.

Didactic training: introduces nurses to core curriculum and hospital initiatives in a classroom setting (4 to 6 weeks)

Simulation training: reinforces nursing skills learned in the didactic setting (1 week)

Hands on training: with a facility preceptor in your nursing unit (6 to 8 weeks)

16-Week training for new and experienced RNs (this will change but you get the structure).

NICU program:

  • Five (5) weeks of interactive classroom discussions
  • Case studies
  • Hands on skills training
  • Simulations with experienced StaRN instructors
  • Eleven (11) weeks of unit-based clinical preceptorship


Interactive classroom lectures/discussions

  • Curriculum based on evidence based practice to National Standards
  • HCA Healthcare Clinical Standards of Excellence
  • Basic Dysrhythmia
  • AHA Basic Life Support
  • S.T.A.B.L.E. Certification
  • Meditech and CPN (EHR) hands-on training
  • TeamSTEPPS® training
  • AIDET, SBAR, Patient Experience, Falls and more

Los Robles Regional Medical Center is a licensed 404 bed acute care facility. Fully accredited by the Joint Commission, Los Robles Regional has the only Level II Trauma Center in Eastern Ventura County and the only Emergency Room in both Los Angeles and Ventura counties coveted EDAP (Emergency Department Approved for Pediatrics) rating. Graduate of an Accredited School of Nursing, BSN preferred.

• Candidates must have previous acute care experience

• Independently maintains license

• Acquires required contact hours to maintain a license

• Must be licensed by the state of California

• Training will include BLS/ACLS certification
