Overview:
This position is responsible for designing plans for various projects from concept to implementation. The AV Case Engineer will work with the team on structural designs and the construction of casework and store fixtures. This role will assist in completing designs and construction of casework. This role will provide design concepts to the production team.
Essential Functions:

- Design case solutions based on client instructions.
- Prepare rough sketches and drawings to support sales and quotations.
- Develop detailed drawings and assemblies for prototype and production products.
- Use 3-D and 2-D CAD software to develop designs and prepare drawings.
- Check and review product concepts, parts, and assembly drawings.
- Inspect prototype and production parts and assemblies.
- Develop installation manuals and assembly procedures.
- Computer file management, printing, plotting, creating, and translating CAD data.
- Engineer to meet all specifications, including load, size, weight, and accessibility.
- Work and communicate effectively with project managers, suppliers, clients, and internal customers.
- Other duties as assigned.
Skills/Competencies:
- Experience in product development, tool design, electrical, and architecture.
- Proficient in 2D and 3D CAD using Autodesk Inventor and AutoCAD.
- Experience designing with a variety of materials, including wood, sheet metal, and plastics.
- Knowledge of standard drafting and dimension practices, ANSI, and ISO.
- Ability to design from verbal communication and rough sketches.
- Ability to communicate alternative ideas and designs.
- Experience with office software including but not limited to Excel, Word, Adobe Acrobat, FTP, etc.
- Mathematical skills including trigonometry and the ability to calculate load requirements.
- Ability to work independently to make educated decisions.
- Time management and organization skills.
- Self-motivated with the ability to work independently.
- Must be adept at handling pressure and working under stress.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
Work Environment:
Work is regularly performed in a combination of office and warehouse environments and is regularly exposed to heavy machinery and noise.
Physical Demands:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. This position may need to sit or stand as needed and may require walking primarily on a level surface for periodic periods throughout the day. Reaching above shoulder heights, below the waist, or lifting as required using proper lifting techniques. The position may require the ability to lift no more than 10 lbs. at a time. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:
This is a full-time position with an expectation to work 40 hours per week. Must be available to work overtime as needed.
Travel:
No travel is required for this position.
Required Education and Experience:
- 1-3years of audio and visual industry experience or a related position.
- 1-3 years of experience in CAD design
- High School Diploma or GED
Preferred Education and Experience:
- 3+ years of A/V industry experience or a related position
- Associates degree or Certification in a technical or related field
