Why teach ESL?

Career: ESL Teacher

Teaching English as a Second Language (ESL) is a rewarding career that helps children and adults improve their English language skills. As an ESL teacher, you may work with students at any point in their educational journey. Some ESL teachers work at the elementary, middle, or high school level. Others are on staff at GED programs, online schools, colleges, and adult education centers. The responsibilities of teaching ESL include lesson planning, classroom instruction, one-on-one feedback sessions, testing, and reteaching concepts with which students struggle. As an ESL teacher, you are able to help students overcome their problems with the language, which can make them improve in all of their studies.
