How to become ESL certified?

Career: ESL Teacher

To become certified as an English as a Second Language (ESL) teacher, you first need to meet the educational qualifications of any other teaching position; you must earn a bachelor's degree in English, education, or a related field. To work in public schools, you must also take teaching courses and pass certification exams in general teaching and pedagogy knowledge as well as in the subject area you wish to teach. You must send your college transcripts and test scores to the state department of education or teacher licensing agency with an application fee. Those who meet the qualifications and pass a background check obtain ESL certification.
