A dancer can work in a variety of settings and locations depending on the type of dance and kind of show in which they are performing. Performances will typically occur in theatres or other similar stages. Some dancers can be part of television shows or movies and will work at production studios. Overall preparation and training for the choreographed movements is a large part of a dancer’s responsibilities, so as a dancer, you may spend significant time in dance studios perfecting the stage show. Many dancers travel extensively and perform shows in multiple locations. Work hours are typically very erratic and seven day weeks are common.
