Where do seamstresses work?

Career: Seamstress

Seamstresses work in a variety of locations, depending on their employer. If you work for a clothing manufacturer, you typically work in a clothing factory with industrial equipment. Dry cleaners, laundromats, or department stores often hire seamstresses to make alterations to customer clothing. Many Seamstresses have their own businesses out of their homes or in a storefront. Traveling Seamstresses operate in a regional area, but travel to customer homes or offices to take measurements and discuss project expectations. Typically, you need to have the tools for taking measurements of their client, along with a sampling of fabrics. The traveling seamstress sends the final product by mail.
